Junk like that is never to be trusted. I always thought that there would always be good lists out there, but they just don't exist. Gamespot thinks that MGS2 and Morrowind are among the most overrated games of all time, and PC Gamer thinks that WoW is the greatest game of all time, (and Peggle makes their top 20). You can't trust any of these punk writers anymore. It's sad not to have a definitive list of 'the best games' but it's just not there.

Anyone who writes a review for a game is going to have their own spin on it. So it makes sense that reviewer site one doesn't have the same opinion as reviewer site two. Though I do think a review shouldn't be so opinionated that it's rated a 10, when in fact it's not 10 material. when held to the light.

I've always been iffy of game reviews, especially in magazines. 90% of the time, they either always pick the games of obvious choice as their favorites (Half-Life 2, Halo, and so on) and the obvious crap as...well, the obvious crap (Skydive!, anything with Extreme in the title, and so on). Not a single person is willing to go out on a limb and say, "You know, I LIKED Extreme Paintbrawl!" But then, anybody who ever said that has been hung by the neck until dead for awhile now.:cheeky:
Though, I will forever be grateful to the long defunct PC Accelerator magazine. If it wasn't for their 8 out of 10 review of Thief, I would have never even heard of it.

Let's face it...Thief just isn't for the masses. Call that an "elitist" statement if you want, but it's still true. Most gamers just want to arm themselves with a BFG and start blasting away at aliens and robots. I like that too, to a certain extent, but Thief is just the stuff of genius...and as a result, it only appeals to a certain "demographic" of game players.

Honestly I've seen so many cheap Thief fans that I gave up this sort of elitist thinking... at least for the community.
