Wow, 500 already!:D
Yeah, I guess it's best to wait another few weeks and see how it grows.
Remember, we had 8000 signatures for the T3 level editor and that material was fresh on the developers hard drives. It's going to take a massive movement to get someone to hunt for the old Dark Engine materials. We must join together, like a hammerite army. TTLG has 14,600 members....why hasn't 'everyone' signed yet? We should be able to easily get 5000 signatures in a week. I'm sure not all members are active, but start the campaign at home folks. It doesn't matter if they don't care, apathy is no excuse. This is TTLG and we should stick together.

Personally, I doubt that anyone could find the source, even if they wanted to release it.... but I signed anyway.

I'm sure it exists out there. I've heard that Ion Storm had it during production of Thief 3...or at least part of it. It's still out there, they wouldn't have tossed it.
On a side note, I just posted a link to the petition in different parts of TTLG for those who don't visit Thief. Just want to see if the TTLG community will support each other.

Oops, I signed it two times somehow. Hope it's not a problem...

Ok guys, if you leave a comment on the petition when you sign it,
please don't say anything negative towards Eidos.
#470 left this:
Quote:
Material should be released in a seperate package and not along with Deadly Shadows. I don't know what happend, but Eidos RUINED two great games: Thief and Dues Ex. Release the material so that the real fans can use it. A Greedy company does not deserve such fine material.
This is NOT acceptable and definitely does not help our chances of accomplishing anything. Remember this is going directly to Eidos. I'm not saying we should suck up to them (I'm sure that wouldn't hurt us too much), but still try to be enthueastic about your remarks.
Look at #421, for example:
Quote:
Dear Eidos, please consider releasing this source, as there are many talented people in the Thief community that could and would use it to keep your franchise alive and well for many years to come. It would be a great exercise in public relations which would only benefit your company and its marketing plans for future releases. It also provides a fertile ground for which to find and recruit new talent, which is exactly what Ion Storm did last time around ( Sledge, author of The Inverted Manse). The community that supports this series is Hardcore. They will not let you down.
This is the kind of support this needs!:thumb:

Agreed, be sensible and not an internet asshole. Corporate bashing isn't going to do a damned thing. We will likely need to edit the petition at this rate...if it's at all possible.

omg guys did we get to signature 503 yet
i must know because i feel an overwhelming need to be informed in this thread on a signature by signature basis of each new signatory to this petition because i am too lazy and retarded to click on a link myself

To answer your question, SD, yes, we have passed 503.
@N.H., unfortunately there is no way to edit comments. We'll just have to cross our fingers and hope whoever at Eidos doesn't get too offended.
Speaking of that, who exactly should this be presented to? My legal background is almost nill, and I can't find any legal contacts at Eidos or SCi (the parent company). The closest I can find is a PR email pr@eidos.com.

I was in contact with the new PR guy on the Eidos forums several months ago when I was going to start up my own petition for the Dark Engine source code. He said he would get back to me in a few days with the information I needed, but never did. I have sent a few more PM's to him in the meantime, but they have gone unanswered. The previous PR guy always answered right away, this new guy just doesn't seem to give a crap.

Ummmm - well I didn't see it until I saw Nielsen74's thread in Fan Missions so that's one more than you would have had - up to 512.
