I think its a good idea. What reason do they have to hang onto the Dark Engine code, as it is now becoming an outdated engine. The fans should have it now!:thumb:

If the point is to try and get unfinished versions of Thief 2 Gold, it probably won't work out -- I would imagine that most of that stuff was scattered to the winds when LGS's office equipment was auctioned off.
There might be an off chance that some former employees walked off with some of the discs, though... :)

Thanks for all of your support, but read this: This is not the actual petition. So far, it's still the thinking ground for the entier thing, and right now we are still creating/adding on to the document. In time I'll set up the
real petition on (
www.petitiononline.com) or some such. I don't want to mess this entire thing up by starting it now when it still has dozens of mistakes. These things take time.

I just PM'd one of the mods at the GameSpy forums. I tried to register at the Eidos site, but it didn't work.
Anyone here a member of the Eidos forums that would like to tell one of the Eidos mods about this?

Anyone here a member of the Eidos forums that would like to tell one of the Eidos mods about this? Interesting. I tried to register at Eidos' Thief forums a while back and got my confirmation after a month or so . Guess they're a bit swamped with registrations or they're auto-mailer really sucks. I should be able to login and PM a mod though. That or someone could ask Linda (I know she was talking about being there before, maybe she has more of a good standing with them), Sailoreagle, or someone to do it. It would seem fishy to me if someone who didn't have any posts to their name bugged me about telling their Eidos manager I need to talk to them :p. As I said, the most we'll probably get by going through the Eidos mods is someone in PR, though this is all we'd get by calling a 1-800 number, so at this point we'll have to give in to the resignation that we won't be able to get the CEO on the line :tsktsk:.
LGS' stuff was auctioned off? Bummer. But don't you think Eidos would've kept the unfinished stuff anyway, especially since most of us see them as miserly old scrooges? I mean, Thief III was in the works, and them blammo. But now it's back up again and one might imagine Eidos gave Ion-Storm the unfinished crap and plot stuff to work with once it came back online (meaning it's possible they also kept the other stuff, at least the Thief II Gold stuff, in hopes it could get finished and make 'em money somehow). I guess what I'm saying is Eidos paid for the work, so isn't it reason enough to keep unfinished stuff? As for the beta's, who knows whether it was stored in some archives or whatnot, but I think there's at least some hope the Thief II Gold levels are somewheres..
Did ya get my suggestions, atari? I hope they make sense..
EDIT: I logged into Eidos' forums, but couldn't access the member pages of the mods when I clicked on 'em? Furthermore, it wouldn't even let me access my own Private Message mail box to type in "Peter Smith" manually (since I couldn't do it the other way). What gives? It's the usual "You do not have permission to access this page" page one can also get here. What gives? I guess I'll just start a new thread..

Well, I suggest you pretend that you're smart and sound intelligent when you write the petition. Maybe they'll be fooled into thinking you're a really smart guy that knows what he's talking about. Maybe....
;) :cheeky:

Wouldn't it be easier to ask Warren Spector or some of the guys who are still there(I've lost track of who all is still there and who left) if they still have it and could make it available? After all, didn't Warren buy all the rights to everything LGS? I could be wrong and completely dumb about all this, but the thought just struck me.
