Three signatures. Only 997 more to go. Or maybe 1997 or 2997 left :laff:?
If this is really what you'd like the end petition to be, ataricom, I guess you/I/everyone should start spreading the word. I just thought of heading over to the non-English forums (Polish, German, etc.) and announce this. There must be hundreds of taffers who never even come to TTLG because they don't speak English fluently or whatever. What should the announcement consist of, though?
deadman.

Contact everyone you can about this. Tell them of our cause, and why they should sign. I still haven't recieved replies from the Eidos and GameSpy forums, so go ahead and post there if you get the chance. :thumb:
I couldn't decide wether to put TTLG or my petition board down as the commmunity location, so I put TTLG down. It seemed to be the better option, because if Eidos gets around to viewing the petition, they'll be more influenced to comply if they see how big TTLG really is.

Signed it, will post it on the SoftNews and Computergames romanian forums, thousands of unique visitors each day on those, while there aren't too many Thief-players, hopefully the others will help anyway, prepare to see some more weird names on that list. :thumb:
I also believe it would help if you used some real names there.

That taffer's attitude might piss off Eidos, "only if there's something in for them".
No matter, if they do make a "Thief 3 + Developer's Thief 1/2 Source Codes Mega Pack" which costs more, we can make do.

Wondeful idea and all...just a couple of years too late in my view. It's arguable that FM production, in terms of both quantity and quality, is at its peak at the moment. With the release of Thief 3, and the proposed inclusion of an editing program for the game, it's likely that the old dark engine tools will become obsolete, in terms of new FM production. According to your petition,
Quote:
What we have in mind is that you release it along with Thief 3. Everyone in support will certianly buy this package, regardless of price. This will attract more customers to the game, which would bring in more revenue to your company.
I can't see how releasing out-dated editing material at the same time as the latest and most technically advanced addition to the Thief series will be of any use. Furthermore, the second sentence I quoted is whimsical to say the least; the only people who want the unreleased dark engine code that you're asking for are established fans of the Thief series, people who will buy Thief 3 anyway. It's hardly going to bring in 'more customers'.
I'm not trying to be a killjoy, but I can't help feeling that any release of the requested material now will simply be too late to have any significance.

Think about it, Thief 3 might not have an editor afterall, and again, the release of the source code will likely make Thief 2 much more customizable than Thief 3 would be just with it's editor, having a source-code for Thief 2 might even lead to Multiplayer,
So we might want to have it around just yet.
If you had the choice between a Thief 3 with exactly the same S&R/Act React system as Thief 2 and with nothing more in terms of editing, OR, everything ever used in the creation of Thief 2, what would you honestly pick?
As an user, you'd probably pick the first, but on the long run, think about it, together we might make our own Thief 3 with the source codes, and again endless possibilites with new stuff to add...
Styrofoam.
