his work was not consumer driven, but actually made as a present to
programmers so that they can learn from his code, as it is custom among them.
I would like you to back up your opposite claims. That's because he stated the facts wrongly. What I had mentioned was that ID allowed beta and alpha versions of the first game (don't know about Doom II) to be downloaded and dissected. Doom is not abandonware in the least, but you sure can't convince me the same doesn't go for the unfinished betas (though that isn't abandonware either.. rather, 'historical freeware' :joke:).

Your wording is unclear.Tell me about it; no offense, but I thought he had planned on brainstorming the ideas and even words before setting it down in stone. And now that there are already signatures, it couldn't be altered without starting all over (it would be like voting to impeach Bush and later find out it was altered to say "reinstate Bush as dictator with a life term"... No fairs! :cheeky:)
But I do agree this is all probably wishful thinking, and again, not even worded or conceptualized as it should if we really do want Eidos to listen to us little taffers.

I hope, noone minds, that I mentioned this petition in our news. No german Thief-fan knew about it before. I hope this gives the petition a little boost. ;)

Do you mean local newspaper? That's great!
:cheeky:
MadBull#34 on 24/10/2003 at 05:53
*rofl* No, I meant the news on our german fanpage. ;)
ataricom on 24/10/2003 at 12:03
That's great for all the same reasons!
Anyone that knows how to make more people aware of the petition are encouraged to help. I'll have more time to work on this as well next week as soon as marching band is over for me.

Sluggs on 24/10/2003 at 12:36

Zapman on 24/10/2003 at 13:24
Dutyfully signed as #125 :)
PlaneShifter on 24/10/2003 at 19:39
I signed, mainly because I'd like to see a Tenebrae-style engine mod of Thief/2. Now wouldn't that be sweet? :thumb:
