Yeah, Middle Ages is pretty much gone.
The trouble with doing that is you get to the point where people are saying "Where's the guns?". I think that's why LGS stuck more closely to that, for one reason at least.
And no magic, they say? Is there electricity then?

Is that first pic from Thief 3? Looks like a Dark Mod image.
Either way, I tend to agree; the time period does seem a bit closer to Victorian than the originals.

Thief 2 had Victorian and art deco out the wazoo. Hell, Thief 2 is what got me into art deco in the first place.

And I prefer it that way. I always felt Thief was at its best when it played up the Victorian stylings moreso than the fantasy medieval ones.

I bet my Gizmondo that it will be a forgettable game like Dishonored.

I'm amazed he hasn't been banned yet.

I definitely wouldn't call Dishonored forgettable, but it was mostly a lot of wasted potential. I do hope it gets a better sequel.

I am NOT a fan of those screenshots. They look like a Unreal 3 port of Deadly Shadows.

It's sad to say but due to all the copycats we've had over the years, Geralt looks like "just another stealth character" based on those screenshots.I'm also afraid that the game play probably won't deviate much from the Assasin's creed/Dishonored formula.
The best thing about the Thief games for me was the distinctive atmosphere. Nothing can much what I felt the first time I time I played the Thief 2 demo and prowled the rooftops. I hope they can at least get that right. The atmosphere. The mood. The ambience. The sounds. That's what makes a thief game into a thief game.

...the Assasin's creed/Dishonored formula...
What does that even mean? Those two games were very different from each other. If there's a continuum between
Assassin's Creed and
Thief, I'd put
Dishonored considerably closer to the latter.
