Yeah, it's looking pretty good to be fair.
Its disappointing that
* Lean is going to be contextual - although who knows if this will be true on PC?
* You'll "lock" to beams - again, true on PC? and how will it really affect the player/simulated skill divide?
* It'll go into 3rd person when you climb a wall or a rope. This isn't made very clear in the previews and articles at present though.
* Oh, they don't have Stephen Russell
* Errr, that's it I think, everything else sounds fine.
It sounds like they've stuck to the core movement and hiding principles and it's mostly in 1st person. I'm not tooooo fussed about 3rd person combat takedowns because I'll be using them rarely (if at all) and this "Oldskool Mode" looks like it's going to turn off Focus and you might not be able to use Focus-Fighting at all in that case.
But rest of it looks good. Really good. Imho.
I suppose my only concern is that they get the tone and atmosphere right and the the plot of course. Thief was always as much about the atmosphere as anything else for me; it all added up to something wonderful. I'm not expecting to get the same feeling from this and I don't expect this to be better because, well, for me it can't be.
It could be good though, and right now I'm feeling surprisingly hopeful.

More things of note:-
* No more taffer slang
* No more goofy accents
I like this news as it's gonna be fun watching Thiefgen frothing over in rage.
The RPS article mentions that game seems to be inspired most by Thief 2. Great, since Thief 2 was actually a game being thief (most of the time). The Dark Project at times was more like fucking Tomb Raider or some shit, dodging belching dinosaurs and zombies in crypts.

I never found any of the accents "goofy" anyway and I'm sad that the taffer slang will be gone.

No more goofy accents
I'd say Orzari is pretty goofy as nuGarrett, flipping between a bad Stephen Russell impersonation and something resembling Liam Neeson, and with his own underlying french accent.

Please take your hate back to the Thief 4 forums. Adults only here thanks.

Maybe "bad performances by American game developers with no acting training, pretending to be British" would be a more accurate label?

^In my opinion, the fact that they were untrained actors added an extra piquancy to the game sounds.

.... or as
they put it, "for today's console market".
Refresh my memory; didn't they do that with TDS?
Pretty much says it all.
I still hold out hope. The graphics look great, anyhow.

As a Brit I found them awesome, and I usually find Americans doing British accents terrible unless its Gwyneth Paltrow. Don Cheadle in the Oceans films for example. They should have just got someone British to do it. He's usually great but this accent is so, so very bad.
