We'd like to take this opportunity to announce our entry to Brethren's Thief Reloaded Contest. This mission is a joint effort between me and my partner Marisa.
=============
* Story *
You are Haunty von Joinus, the haunt who has been haunting the catacombs below the mechanist seminary for many years. However you have grown tired of patrolling the same hallways for what seems to have been an eternity, so you decide to bid farewell to your friend, break out of the seminary and find something more worthwhile to haunt.
The exit is blocked by a magical barrier, which can only be passed by holding the Talisman of Death. You need to first destroy the four elemental talismans. Doing so will give you access to the Talisman of Death.
=============
* Our goal *
We wanted to take an OM and give it a totally different story without altering the mission. Therefore the changes to the original mission were minimal; a handful of brushes were added and a couple of hundred objects were replaced, mostly ambient sounds and scripting elements.
Our goal was to provide you with a unique experience and let you view the Thief world from a totally different angle.
Above all, we wanted to make you think.
=============
* Important Notes *
- You are a haunt. You can run faster with your hammer drawn, so don't tuck it away. Being a haunt, you don't have an inventory; therefore all the items that appeared as junk before might play a more important role in this mission. Finally, you don't have the hiding skills of Garrett. There is no light gem. You can still hide in the shadows, but not as effectively as Garrett does.
- Haunts don't see the world as the living do, so don't adjust your TV sets.
- Don't save during the opening conversation, it might break the mission.
- Don't go too fast. Slow down and read whatever there is to be read.

As usual, please use hints instead of outright spoilers to help the players who might be stuck.
Thanks to everyone who helped us with the mission, in particular the beta testers.
A lot of material used in this mission had been put aside for The Acid Trip II. I started working on TATII last year, but when it became clear that I was not going to finish it (due to the sheer amount work necessary), we decided to use the ideas in this mission. I guess you could call this mission the spiritual sequel to The Acid Trip. We hope you will enjoy playing it!

Congratulations on the release, Haplo! This is definitely not your run-of-the-mill FM but then, we don't expect that from this particular author. We always look for something different and he always delivers! :)

Thanks very much for this mission, Haplo and Marukpa !
Well, this mission provides a perfectly different perspective.
And I had lots of fun playing it - although at the end I wondered if I did everything as planned.
Anyway, somehow I made it.
Thanks !

I'm loving this mission, man- brilliant concept, I was laughing my ass off after reading the readme "You are Haunty Von Joinus". CAN'T. MOVE. PARALYZED. BY. AWESOMENESS.
But yeah, I'm stuck of course.
I've destroyed all the talismans except for the fire one behind the fan. How do you get back there without getting owned by the blades? I had a couple failed ideas that I still thought were pretty clever (jamming the blades with a crate and, when that failed, throwing loot over the blades at the talisman to try and shatter it from a distance, also I tried looking in the machine room for a fusebox or something that I could smash). Anyway, I'm totally clueless here.

hint 1: look farther afield.
hint 2: outside

Thanks Nightwalker, that put me in the right direction!
Just beat it- I'm really curious as to whether or not how I got up to the second floor at the end was right or if I was just being dense:
Basically I gathered ever crate I had access to at that point and made a giant crate tower up to one of the archer parapets. If that wasn't what I was suppose to do, I at least demand a high-five for thinking so outside-the-box.

Thanks all, glad you liked the mission!
Did you guys use the haunting feature? It can be a lot of fun. Run around the level and get many mechanists to follow you, then haunt them all in one go. This way you'll have an army at your disposal.

You can go back upstairs through the crypt entrance from outside.I wonder how many people will finish the watcher puzzle the way we intended it, and how many others will find their own way.

I solved the watcher puzzle by blocking off the watcher's view with the big crate nearby. It was fairly easy that way. To solve the mission, I needed Nightwalker's hint for the fan puzzle. I had seen the piece of rubble in the cemetary before, but didn't remember it when I was chucking crates and chalices into the fan.
That was a pretty fun mission, Haplo and Marukpa! Yes, I used the haunting feature once on two mechanists at the front entrance of the seminar.

Me too. Really enjoyed that puzzle.
I was a bit disappointed that my solution for the fan didn't work. I
bashed the small bot till I could pick up his 'corpse' and tried that to jam the fan.Overall a nice mission, with excellent innovative gameplay and a good atmosphere. I was kinda curious at first when I saw the 'Don't kill any innocents' objective. Who would Haunty consider an innocent?
