just unconscious or dead when you threw him??? :sly: ;)
(and did he do much damage? or was he just deadweight??) :laff:
He was a little of both when I pulled him off the sofa to do the job. But after 20 minutes of whacking, circling, running, tweaking settings, changing the mouse (twice), gesturing and swearing - without success - I think he was back among us :cheeky:
He died petulantly, then peacefully on the sofa again until my scream of victory brought him back once more.

@Redleaf- I like your stick-to-it-ness ! At least you didn't whimp out ! :laff: and you defeated the Evil. You are almost a free man !
@ Garretts Shadow, Yeah !:laff:
Thank you, darthsLair! Like some frogs, I can grow a set when I need 'em, but I still fight like a girl.

I really liked how this mission had a T1 "feel" without resorting to using stock T1 textures, voices, AI, etc. Congratulations on an interesting and excellent mission, DarthsLair!

Congratulations on the release Rod, i always enjoy playing TG maps in T2 :p but it was all changed, it remembered me to Shadowspawn's Lorgan's Web :cheeky:
darthsLair on 23/2/2011 at 01:36
Thanks Max, Lorgan's Web is one of my all time favs. I dont know how many arrows I stuck in Lorgan, and that big bald goon that was there to protect him,the hundredth time I played it. :laff:

I really liked the fact this mission was based on Assassins which, as it turns out is one of my favourite OM. Objectives and item goals were clearly laid out and loot goal was reasonable - no need to search everywhere for the last lost coin.
Architecture was decent. Custom sounds were fine and new quality voiceacting is always good. But on the sound department I still was left puzzled because ambient seemed to be so static in places - Assassins ambients were more dynamic and changed according to enviroment.
Somehow I was expecting more enterable buildings and freeform movement as in Lorgans Web because diversions and choices are such fun, but maybe the level is at limits already. City missions are always in my mind too limited and full of window dressing anyway. The bar was nice to have around, though. But, gameplay was of solid quality through the mission.
It was nice to be able to visit Ramirez once again. But somehow it is disappointing because by default original Ramirez mansion is so sparse and empty of "stuff" compared to contemporary fan missions - just a minor observation.
Regarding readables, most of them were nice. Still, I didn't quite understand why some of the readables seemed to be from the original mission. Surely by the time this mission takes place these readables wouldn't logically be present. "Gamey" secrets were fun but take player out of the game and mission - in game secrets are better, IMHO.
The end was a mixed blessing - struggle and sense of accomplishment but at the same time Thief game/Garrett avatar doesn't work very well in such situations. But the "double" ending was kinda nice anyway. I didn't luckily encounter any major bugs and the story was decent. Atmosphere was somewhere between T1 and T2 but not as intense as in OM or Lorgans Web. I was left wanting more "everything", but still, overall solid and fun mission.

Thankyou 2Dark, Glad you had alittle fun. Yes, the Map was at it's limits for everything including memory allocation. Randy's Work: Lorgan's Web is all and all one of the best !
The Original Books are necessary, otherwise how many Taffers are going to remember the Original Story from 1998 ? The Characters portrayed in those original books and scrolls. I would say probably nobody.
Also, what time period do you think it is ? The Original books are there because this event is the Continuing story, and without them the player cannot follow the story. The Player choice of the time period would be within a short period. Why would Ramirez throw his books away ? His Diaries, his notes ?
What is empty about it ? There are more accessible buildings than there was in the Original Mission.
Ramires Mansion has more than the original did. Notice the Rooms are better, and the Basement is full along with another new story line, flowing with the Rival Powers. The Exterior also has alot more features, and the Port Cullis Gates, or the City Watch, or the Cathedral were not in the Original mission. There are same number of AI in this mission as the original, just not Ramirez bowman when heading to home turf.
As far as the Secret Areas are concerned, it is within the Mission, as most of Secret Areas are in Route, and One in Particular has some powerups needed in the final battle. The 4 Secret Areas are also (Optional). The main intent of the Secret Areas were to show the Areas except for one that pre-existed in "Assasins', The other 3 were already in place. They in no way detract from the Main Goals or Story unless the Player Chooses too.
Garrett is not a Warrior, but some special equipment was provided, not just the Powerful Sword. He uses Cunning and Wit to survive, not his fighting ability.
Also Realize that this map is a Complete Original, not a cut version , but with much more than the original, by far more !
The idea of this Contest was to Reload an OM, or an old map with new features, story, characters, and I did that !
Reading at this Threads Start would have informed you of some of features designed here, and why they were implemented.
Thanks for your input !
