Hi Procession, Look in your T2 directory for a folder "Books" that may have been left from another fm.Those were book files left behind from a FM which were overriding the default images, and had a palette that wreaked havoc with the default fonts.
OK, here's a screenie: so which bits need to go (?) or can I remove the whole folder ?

Hi Procession, The Folders are interfering with the book strings. After you have cleaned up your directory, after running T2 through darkloader or garrettloader, go back to your T2 directory and make sure the only thing having boos.crf would be in the Res folder. No other folders named books should be in your T2 directory. The Books.crf in your Res folder is for thief2 original games.
1.Run Thief2 mission1 "Running Interferance"
2.Close Darkloader of Garrett loader
3.Go to t2 directory and remove that folder you posted here, and any other file not belonging to Thief2.
This should clear it up.

I've got two questions:
1. I managed to get out of the prison and made my way to Webster's house (still unarmed). After the conversation took place and I left the house, his guard started to chase me. No matter where I hide, he always comes straight to me. How can I get rid of him, without taking him out (which I can't do since I'm still unarmed)?
2. Shouldn't the Hammerites be my friend in this mission, or did I missunderstand something? They start to attack me as soon as they see or hear me!

There are several places you can hide until that guard calms down. But you really nead your weapons. If you follow the canal you will come to Otto's weapons shop. Go in there to get your weapons.

Ok, I'll try that. I've restarted the game and I'm going to visit Otto first.
But this guard must be the most stubborn guard I've ever seen in Thief. I was running through the whole area of High Towne with him chasing me, twice :laff:

Yep, I remember him - the guy in the blue shirt? I managed to lock him in the jail one time and when he saw me through the window he still managed to get out somehow and chase me :wot:
Don't try and take his key or, when you've got your weapons, don't let him see or hear you use them - otherwise he'll go into super-alert mode!
Tannar on 7/2/2011 at 01:06
Yep, he's one stubborn guard, lol. I've had him chase me all over the map too. The trick is to knock him out before he ever goes on alert. You can turn the porch light out at Websters and you can travel through the secret passage from the front porch to Webster's office. That helps.

Yes, that is a good approach ! Here is why he does what he does:Jackel is the character you are referring to, and when you are invited to visit Mr.Webster and proceed until the end of the conversation. When you leave, they already know not to trust you, and that you have no buisness hanging around. When you leave after meeting with mr. webster, turn off the porch light and use a rope arrow to get up through the attic passage. shoot one moss arrow on the venting so you dont make noise. When you get the Cross, come back out the vent, and if you haven't made any noise, Jackel will have his back to you near the steps. Blackjack him, then tip toe across to Riley, and get behind him and put him to sleeep. When you have to return later, you can just go thru the front door to obtain Mr. Websters ledger.

I got a key off one of the "klepto" convo guards no prob, and got to Otto's (i guess it was his place)
But all I could take from there was 13 broadheads,1 water and 3 moss arrows! - no sword and NO BJ! :grr:
And what's up with the highlighting scale that I can't do anything about?
(and the objective to "buy" my weapons from him!!!)
btw - the sound of his voice over dropped out - could'nt clearly hear whatever it was he said! :tsktsk:
