Thief is something which cannot be duplicated. All attempts to remake this game are stupid, why would you want to copy a game which is so perfect?

Just for clarification, neither of those are official Dark Mod projects. They were both started by Kingers using an old beta-build of the mod which he was not given permission to use. He is not a team-member or even a beta-mapper for us and assuming that his projects ever get completed (which seems highly unlikely), they would be incompatible with the current Dark Mod code anyway.
Thanks. Understandable.

You know this because you've tried so hard. Anything can be duplicated with enough dedication. That being said...we're not aiming to duplicate everything to the letter...but if our toolset will allow people to capture the essence of what made Thief fun...then we will have succeeded.

So why waste your time trying to remake something which is already there? How about the concept of trying to evolve it and make it something new? What makes Thief fun to me in 2007 is nostalgia and how that game came out and made such a difference to the market, as well as being immensely fun and detailed.

I agree. Remaking Thief is a stupid idea, albeit one that is suggested rather frequently. The amount of effort required to duplicate all of the Thief levels, add in all of the AI, scripts, gameplay etc would be phenomenal, and completely wasted given that the Thief games already exist.
Fortunately, such criticisms do not apply to the Dark Mod as it is not a remake of Thief.

We are still... on it, even without Kingers. To (
http://unforeseen.net.tc/) quote my co-designer Leo Bleakfeldt:
"Hi, I am Leo "Divisor" B. Bleakfeldt. [...] My favourite zombie is the tuba playing zombie from Land of the Dead, which truly is a Romero masterpiece. [...]
I also want to make clear that we will not let this (
Unforeseen Consequences: Lost Tombs) stagnate as the old project did by slowly approaching the PZK (Point of Zero Kelvin). K. buried UC, and UC is now unearthed. We will do it right. Well, I will start working, then."
Here is some recent proof of concept artwork of a Cragscleft-type zombie.

As we did not start mapping yet, the mod has still good chances to be compatible.

The thing about proofs of concept is that when they are a manifest failure, you're meant to give up and go back to the drawing board rather than show them off in a public forum.
