The site will probably host the file the way you want it, if its reasonably small. Just a thought.
No reason why it couldn't be added to the Fanworks section at the Circle, yeah.

I'm at the point where I can see the light at the end of the tunnel in completing a feature film screenplay based on the Thief series. Only around twenty pages left!
What I read:
Quote:
Look at me! I'm doing something completely pointless and using big words like "feature film screenplay". I'm not finished and may never
be finished, but I want you to tell me how great I am anyway.
Admittedly, I lost a bit of context in the translation. But if you had just waited these few extra days and announced that you had already finished and humbly submitted it for our entertainment. And maybe it's not that great, but you enjoyed making it and isn't self-satisfaction more important than popularity...
Well that would've been fine.
(The fact that you finished in just a few days has me concerned, though. Isn't that a direct contradiction of the (
http://www.catb.org/jargon/html/N/Ninety-Ninety-Rule.html) 90/90 rule?)
Personally, I'm sick of Thief. I just don't give a damn about Garrett anymore. It's so old and seems that everything that could've been done already has. Give me something new. I'm sick of seeing sequels and remakes everywhere... Spiderman 3, Pirates of the Carribean 3, Shrek 3, 28 Weeks Later... I'm surprised they haven't tried to make a sequel to bleedin' Titanic!
So why do I bother reading these threads if I don't like Thief? Well, because the people here are so friendly. Isn't it obvious?
imperialreign on 9/5/2007 at 05:44
yeah, kinda sick of the sequels when it comes to the BOX-OFFICE, too
But, IMHO, I think there's still a lot of life left to the Thief world. Too me, I think where it gets dull is when the same roads are covered over and over again. The developers did a great job of giving us a really detailed world in every aspect, but still leaving it so vague and cryptic that we can fill in the blanks to suit are taste. It's just a matter of someone breaking unprecedented ground with what we currently have, to breathe life back into it, and I'm so far getting the impression that the DarkMod will be able to do just that.

Crazyjon should have read about previous posts like this, and perhaps been a little more specific.
I did but the only relevant threads are so old that they didn't turn up on my first search. After Telliamed's post I went back and did a more thorough search and the only relevant thread I found was four pages of speculation about what a Thief film should be. I didn't see any similarity.

Oh, and crazy john, you should NEVER display your email like that!!
It's not one I use too often and already gets so much spam that a bit more won't make that much difference.

one tiny little extra word from me: What do you care what people's assumptions or cynicisms might be? It takes nothing away from you either way.
I don't, but if they're being jerks I'm not going to be terribly nice in return.

Fair enough. I didn't mean for it to be put up in HTML though. The site will probably host the file the way you want it, if its reasonably small. Just a thought.

I emailed the circle but they have yet to respond.

No kidding. Why would I say I had seen the light at the end of the tunnel if I was just getting started?! The reason I used the words feature film screenplay was so you (since you seem so smart and knowledgable on the subject) would know that the typical feature film screenplay is around 120 pgs, and that having only 20 pgs left to go pretty much meant I was on the homestretch.
The rest of the quoted paragraph is pure troll-talk. You're way more interested in molding my post to your guidelines than in what the post actually says.

Not the way I write. Everything was planned almost to the word before I started the draft. I could show my notes but they're just long and boring and weaker than the finished product (around 25 word doc. pages of synopsis and description). Knowing that there were only 20 pages left to write was pretty inspiring too. It's not like I was going to stop and take a break with only 5 pages left.

I think you've outlived your relevance. You don't care about Thief and you're certainly not friendly. Maybe it's time you spent your life on something interesting and productive.

I feel the same way, that's why the script doesn't follow Thief to the letter but throws in enough references and familiar characters to earn the title. In my opinion the strongest character in the whole series is the city itself. It's deep, gothic and always changing. It play a big role in my screenplay.
In regards to whether the series still has life: Every story that touches a human emotion accurately and specifically enough will be immortal. Just look at how long Shakespeare or even Spiderman has lasted. Where it dies is either when people exploit it for it's market potential or less talented folks try to copy/add to it but lose the element that made it so special in the first place (i.e. the disgustingly un-gothic Batman & Robin). (edit: ) In my opinion the great elements about Thief are the way it reminds us that no matter what people do, try, conceive or build they will never be safe (and that's not just from Garrett), about how big the world is compared to how small we are, and about the limitless of human imagination and tragedy of human potential. So long as those ideas are properly conveyed I think people will always be interested.

Just woke up.... Still thinking in dream symbols....
Crazy jon, I e-mailed a couple of files to TheCircle last year and it was quite some time before I received a response, but they were posted. So let's see what happens.
And don't let the trolls stop you from crossing the bridges set before you. The trolls have their limited purpose, but they're overzealous in their task, not knowing when the point's been as made as it's going to be. The concerns and the doubts have been laid out. Fine. Violent opposition to creativity is normal--a frikkin' test of the human spirit that can take on mythological proportions--but normal.:p
