I picked up three TDP from a overstock warehouse a few weeks ago. I just opened a Platinum Dual (which I bought at the same time) and I noticed, all 5 copies were on the same shelf, that the Specifications listed on the single disc THIEF (Dark Project) says:
W-98, ME, XP..." and the minimum CPU etc. Anyone buy a copy lately and just installed it without the LGNTFORCE command?
I haven't tried it yet as I have copies on my systems already. These copies came in the usual rectangular cardboard boxes, not the sexy Trapazoidal ones. But the specifications clearly say XP compatible, and are from the US EIDOS production.
Just curious if anyone else had noticed this on some of the newer released copies.
I have the DVD collection which is GOLD, TMA, TDS and are clearly XP and VISTA compatible, but all my other copies of TDP, GOLD, and TMA must be installed with the LGNTFORCE command or I get the NT error.

I've never seen that before, but the original copies work just fine on XP as long as you use the lgforce thing to install them. The only area you may run into trouble is the graphics card. The graphics card is what causes the games to fail to enter the 3D world when you click "start mission". I used to get a black screen all the time with my Geforce.
Some are much more knowledgeable than me on this... Apparently you can use old drivers to fix the problem. I myself play with Wine, so I don't have those issues. We get no 3D sound though, which really sucks. On the other hand, most new machines don't support that old EAX stuff though, anyway.

check out the Faq thread. it's one of the stickies. It should help with installing problems, if that's what your having.
I've never gotten Thief 1 to work on any computer I've tried, be it XP or Vista, and with patches.
So I also, my not be of much help. :erg:

Re-read the original post.
Nothing was said about being unable to install the games.
I have had all three (TDP-GOLD-TMA) installed and running on XP since before TDS arrived.
To repeat the question. I have newer productions of TDP. The specs on the box say it will work with XP.
Has anyone else seen this?

yes.I have the anthology edition (TG,T2 and T3),and all games install fine under xp,no need for lgntforce command..but I still need to apply the dualcore fix and use one of the "game runs too fast" fixes if I want a normal gameplay.

I guess I'm being too complicated here.
A single disc package of The Dark Project.
Produced somewhat recently (after the introduction of XP).
It's your standard cardboard CD box with shrinkwrap. Nothing fancy.
The specifications listed on the package are: W-98, ME, XP..." and the minimum CPU etc.
HAS ANYONE ELSE SEEN THIS DARK PROJECT PACK?
Or is that question still too complicated.
It really is easier if a person reads an entire post before jumping to a conclusion.
I am not, and did not, speak about problems with the Dual Platinum, or the DVD, or any other "collection". I'm asking about a single game pack of The Dark Project, that claims to be compatible with W98-ME-XP.
Has anyone else seen these specs on any copy of The Dark Project? Really simple question.
I don't need help installing, or playing any of the games. And none of my posts here asked for such.
