Strange thing it doesn't appear in Thief 1 and 2.
I'm currently trying T2 multiplayer... Should be a bigger problem, as I can't minimise the menu window.

Ack, I'm sorry, I just re-read my post and realized I didn't mention that I'm looking for something for a Mac, specifically OSX. Maybe wine is still good, but I'm guessing not after looking at their website and getting thoroughly confused.
Thanks (and sorry) again.

Wine Bottler
Installs both Wine and Wine bottler.
With wine bottler you can use wine without any wine knowledge.
You can find the website (
http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/) HERE.
Did i mention that it is free.
I havent tried it with thief tough.

CrossOver
is available for Mac OS X. And it has an optimized 3d engine. Not sure if it works with wine and wine bottler that well, too.

How are your load times with wine/crossover and Thief? Mine suck beyond belief, especially in T2 missions. It can take 20 seconds to reload after a failure in a large mission like Wicked Relics. I wish someone could track down and fix this bug. I guess the first place to start is seeing if it manifests on a Mac as well.

Similar to yours. But since I don't often need to reload I didn't mind. Anyway I use Bootcamp and XP to play. ;P

In my opinion, if you have a decent Mac and a copy of XP, Vista, or Windows 7, I'd go ahead and run Boot Camp instead. I run Thief 1/2/3 on my 2006 iMac using Boot Camp and Windows Vista and never once had an issue other than what we all experience with Thief's growing age. Performance is pretty good for a basic, mobile video card too as I've never experienced slowdowns even in TDS. The compatibility issues with CrossOver are difficult to overcome when they appear, while under Windows it's easier to tinker around and solve problems.

I'm gonna have a go at Thief on VMWare Fusion, CrossOver is too buggy.
I realize that this post is years old, but I am new to mac and I was wondering if Fusion works for anybody. I'm having worse than the usual XP dual core hangups.
