One of my fondest memories in gaming is when I found the Thief TDP demo on the Eidos disc in my PC Gamer magazine. The first few moments into the game, experiencing the atmosphere and game play left a permanent mark on my psyche.
Because of my busy schedule, my gaming platform of choice here lately has been my iThing. After logging a few hours in (
http://www.ravensword.com/) Ravensword: The Fallen King, I started feeling that familiar twinge I got the first time I played TDP. Playing the first dungeon quest in the game using first-person view is somehow reminiscent of Bafford's basement.
There is no reason why we as a community can't produce a Thief-like game on the iPhone platform, after all, Ravensword was created by only two guys using the Unity game engine. From what I've seen, the Unity engine would easily give us a Thief TDP quality game on the iThing.
If we could start such an endeavor, I for one would contribute as much funding, and artistic talent as I could manage.
I've ran a few searches on here and I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet. If we do this, money made from the sales could go toward the funding of TTLG sites.

I voted no, only because I am not a fan of the iPhone or apple and thier attitude. But that said I will conceed the iPhone platform is a biggish market, but I would prefer to see it on the open source andriod platform instead.
I will be buying an android based phone next year so would buy "Thief: The droid project"

I voted no. I hate mobile phones and I like Thief. It's not compatible. Let's do a super mario remake if we must, but no atmospheric game like thief, please.

No of course! Almost like a midi version of a Beethoven's symphony.

I'm with you, Rufus

I voted yes, but purely for propagandistic purposes, it should be a way to make known Thief.

voted yes, because I also thought about a thiefy game on iPod but sadly there are some things you cannot port to this console.
Thief was about immersion and sound and had a lot of movement controls, things that are very hard, almost impossible to deliver via an iPod. Of course you can do something that will be somewhat similar to Thief, but it you cannot do something as good as the real game. I just finished working on (

Thief: Deadly Shadows for the mobile phone, and the two-episode Thief: Constantine's Sword games were made, so I wouldn't entirely discount it. It's obviously not the best way to experience Thief and it's more like fanfic, but players didn't complain. I think it helps that they are so different in format that any comparison to the proper games is unfair and ridiculous. It also wouldn't be made by EM, so there's no concerns over dev time, playtesting, or cost. It would probably be marketed much better than the other three mobile phone games this time around. Since it doesn't threaten the proper game, I have nothing against it.

Bloody hell dude, did you design that game or just work on it? Thats awesome, I had no idea the iPhone was powerfull enough to play that level of 3D.

@jtr7 yeap the two Thief Deadly Shadows episodic games for mobile phones were great! I admit the design was awesome for what a phone can do, a similar game on iPhone will be excellent yes! Willing to share my skills on such a project. :thumb:

@Bikerdude I was 2D artist on the project, meaning concept art, interface, menus, textures etc, anything 2D :) we really tried and I think we succeeded on taking the graphics to the limits

@sneaksythiever: I believe you underestimate the graphics power of the platform my friend. Let's say it's more like a highschool band rendition of Beethoven's symphony ;)

hehe that's what I'm talking about, Ravensword & N.O.V.A. both have graphics simular to Thief TDP, N.O.V.A.'s are a alot better it seems, and the sound quality is very good, therefore we
could have an atmosphereic game. Because of the platform, I'll admit there would be some sacrifices on the sound perhaps, and while nothing will be as good as the PC version I think the level of 3D on the iPhone could render a very nice version of Thief. There are some great minds in this community that could introduce Thief to a whole new generation and on a whole new platform. We could make something truly impressive.
