I'm doing something that I actually have toyed with in the past but had not done so well as I am now. I wanted to see if anyone else had done it, and if not, I thought maybe some of you would appreciate the suggestion and might find yourself interested in doing it too.
What am I talking about? Well, I'm burning a CD that has .wavs of every Thief 1 and 2 cutscene (both the cinematic stuff and just the mission briefing with Garrett talking) in their proper order, so that I can now listen to this CD as one long radioplay type thing. It works quite well in this format. This is also a great way to expose friends/family to the great story of Thief when you know that due to their age, or just disposition that there isn't a chance in hell they'd ever actually play the games through. I should burn a DVD too... including the videos. Yea...

Well now that the idea of doing this in a video DVD format got in my head I can't get it out. Unfortunately, I also can't make it happen due to the crazy indeo format of the Thief movies. My windows vista DVD burning program won't recognize it. Even after codecs are automatically downloaded by windows media player I can never actually play those videos in a way that shows the visual, I only get sound...
Trying different video conversion programs to put them into a more managable format but if my system can't seem to read them properly to begin with I don't know that that'll ever work. Ugh... any help would be hot!

Your idea is
really good! But one would prefer a more refined mix with ambient sounds and effects, rather than just .wav files in sequence.
Unfortunately, that's hours and hours of work. Better concentrate on the .wavs for now.
I found I could play the Indeo .avis in Media Player after following (

The Movie files are AVI. What are you having a problem with? I can open the folder and play any of them with any of three different players on my system including Windows Media player.
EDIT:
I just now took every Movie file from GOLD and made a single DVD of them with my Easy Creator Application. Took about 5 minutes to take all 20 someodd AVI's and make one single string.
What application are you using that won't read AVI files with video and audio?

blackman you aren't aware of the massive number of problems with the thief cutscene videos? they use the old indeo codec and it's caused tons of issues for people. I use vista and that just seems to be the latest form of trouble, I cannot get any indeo codec to work in vista, so the most i've been able to pull off is the videos playing with sound only.
Windows DVD Maker tells me the cutscene files are "not valid or corrupted"

As I said, I can play, copy, burn, edit the cutscenes with no problem.
I just open the movie folder and double click the file of choice and it plays.
If I want to edit it, I just drag and drop the file into my editor (Easy Media Creator), crop it then burn it to a DVD or save the production.
PM me with your address and I'll burn you a DVD of TDP, GOLD, or TMA and mail it you.
The MOVIE files are simple AVI files. Almost any player should handle them. I've not had a problem with Windows Media player, my ATI card File player or Fraps, or Roxio Video editor.

After much work and much luck I got a DVD made, turned out quite nicely other than that the program I was forced to use does not by default have a "play all" option, so I'll be needing to make another with that.
I ended up including all the videos from Thief 3 on it too. It came out to be just under the DVD's size limit, like, remarkably close.
