Well, I'm in Waunakee!
I was thinking the Bristol Ren Fair was about as close to Thief as I would be likely to get.

The closest ttlg people to me would be Dia, DrysilsChosen, and ZylonBane.
I'm fairly confident that this wouldn't work out...
Ditto; for reasons entirely my own and which do not reflect on you, RT, in any way. ;)
Griffin & Goldmoon Dawn; we're all practically neighbors! We could even do a little Thief-like thing at the Ren. Fair (love that event!). Unobtrusively, of course.
P.S. If anyone of you guys gets caught taffin' there, I don't know you. :ebil: :cheeky:

Ha!
I deliver bread there for my job. I love the Renaissance Fair! I've yet to dress up though. :p

hey, are any of u guys near AR? thats where i live.. and i got a few friends and a brother who might be willing to join in. plus, i got 2 semi-real {remade handles, they broke} swords and a {decorative} katana that we could use, and yes, my parents are ok with me and my bro having swords {i own 1, and my bro owns the other and the katana}, hell, we even have staves and shit, along with 2 {need to find the other} desert eagle soft-air guns, me and my bro both have dusters {small versions of trenchcoats}. sounds like fun, i might enlist me and my homies to do that some time, we have a few places like that around where i live that would be perfect marks. set up like 1 thief and the rest are guards with fake money and whatnot as loot. :thumb: and if i could contribute/have some contributors, that would kick ass, i love sneaking around, i did it all the time at school {its summer vacation now!! yayy!! i can do as i please for 2.5 months!! :ebil: }.

I have developed my own idea based around Thief.
basically, the game consists of no less than 4 players, 1 of which is the Thief, or up to 4 if the amount of players permits. its played in some abandoned building or something where you most likely WONT get arrested for trespassing at night.
the rules are as follows:
1) No hitting below the belt (no nut shots)
2) No hard hitting (not necessary)
3) To KO a guard, sneak up from behind and whack em across the head, ambushes are ok as well.
4) KO'ed guards remain where they fall unless the Thief desires to move them, whereby the guard will follow the Thief quietly to the ddrop location and lie down there.
5) KO'ed guards must lie down for a count of 125 before becoming active again. And count normally.
6) KO'ed guards can NOT converse with active guards.
7) Active guards can give info to other active guards on the possible location of the Thief and any other info.
8) Games will go on until either the Thief is caught, completes all objectives, or gives up.
9) The guards will set up the loot around the location.
10) The Thief(s) is(are) determined by a die roll (or RNG), whomever's number it hits is(are) designated the Thief(s).
sounds good eh? i just wish i lived near some abandoned buldings (intentionally mispelled), or at least more than i currently do. i got an abandoned Boys' Club baseball field nearby, but its kinda small, and the building's locks are unfortunately locked.
we need a gathering point to play this together, that would kick ASS. have a bunch of taffers running around an old abandoned bulding somewhere trying not to get "arrested". i wonder how many true Thief fans who would be willing to do something like this live in AR (where i live), cuz if i could gather em up, we could go to some old abandoned warehouse or something somewhere and play. cuz im bored as hell sitting around the house with almost NOTHING to do.

Hmmm. I wonder who would act out Pagans? Or better yet, those "rat men" found in the Pagan sanctuaries and the Maw of Chaos? I wonder where one would get the costume to act out rat men? But then again, would anyone want to really play those guys and hollar out "plumsie stealer" or "give us them backsies" during the real life simulation??
It all sounds near comical :p

for added fun, if you have enough people you could have zombies and other undead in the basement. zombies would say nothing (except make zombie noises), have to walk slowly, and have to grab on to their victim for 10 seconds before they can make a "kill". kills lie down for 125 seconds before getting up... as zombies. while zombies are slow, they can make up for it with suprise attacks. and while a guard or thief could concievably bring one down, they would get back up after 30 seconds.
haunts could operate in the same way as guards, except that they are unable to pass information to each other. in addition, haunts should only be played by the athletic types- the ones who can move fast. fat slow guards like me stay upstairs :)
you could start out with one or two of each, stick 'em in the basement, and put some especially valuable loot down there.
oh, and the undead would be restricted to the basement. much as i liked letting the haunts out to wreak havoc in the mechanist church in TMA, it would kind of ruin the game.

Not a bad idea. Much more plausible than my Pagan and Rat men idea. For people playing the Hammer Haunts and Zombies, a huge dollop of body paint is needed for "rotten flesh effects." I'm not sure if they would want to make those ridiculous zombie noises. The location for these characters will be difficult though. Does anyone live near a haunted house, or an abandoned mine/quarry?

Oh! And another thing. I wonder if there's a woman who will be willing to wear nothing but green body paint and leaves to play Victoria? :cheeky:
Just a passing thought
