Just saw an ad for this on iMDB: (
http://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/thief/main.html) Thief
Has nothing to do with
our Thief, of course. But it's a show about a (modern-day) thief, anyway, and it starts on Tuesday on some chanel called "FX".
It starrs, among other quasi-famous/washed-up actors:
Andre Braugher (voted one of People's 50 most beautiful people, some year. was in the Kojak series or something)
Michael Rooker (usually has a beard, but not in this show! :O)
Clifton Gonzales Gonzales (played the lovable "Loco" in The Replacement Killers)
Linda Hamilton (the chick in the (first two) Terminator movies)
If anyone has the FX channel they should check it out and tell us if it's any good. plz

I once in a while watch 'It Takes a Thief' if I happen to see it on (I think TLC...although I'm not absolutely sure). Interesting show.

NEXT WEEK ON THIEF:
[We join Young Garrett and Keeper Artemus in private session at the Sanctuary]
Artemus: What have I told about nipping the Black Lotus?
Young Garrett: I was just trying to have some fun.
Artemis: Some fun, you--
[Awkwardly long laughtrack interrupts them]
[They wait several minutes for the laughtrack to stop]
Artemus: Anyway, believe or not, I actually was young once and I understand your frustration. I would have shrugged this off normally. However, when you decided to involve the other acolytes in your mischief, it was no longer just you trying to have fun. I do have my responsibilities, as do you.
[Garrett is silent]
[After a while, a smirk begins to sneak its way on to Garrett's face]
Artemus: Are you listening to me?
Young Garrett (still smirking): Yes....and...forgive me, Master. After all...I am still learning, aren't I?
Artemus: Oh you!

When I saw this thread title, I thought it was a resurrection of a series of posts that were written some time ago.
By southpaw I believe.
BTW is it just me, or does none of the buttons work any more? I can't post smiles, or links, or change the text size or anything! I don't get that dropdown search thing either, I just go to the search page when I click on it.

When you click on the link and the logo comes up, doesn't the background music seem very familiar?
SlyFoxx on 26/3/2006 at 13:56
That CAN'T be a coincidense.

I'm an Andre Braugher fan from when he was on Homicide and am interested to see if he can be as good as he was in that in anything so have been looking forward to this show. My impression is that this show will be about what goes on inside the thief's head as opposed to action. It'll be interesting to see if they pull it off. I don't think I've ever seen anything worthwhile on FX though.

I've seen the pilot now and the show looks very good.
It's high drama. Braugher is the black leader of gang of thieves. He's also a family man. The show is about the tough decisions he has to make in both aspects of his life. Some of it's a little like Mission Impossible. There are the tools of the trade, the mechanics of breaking into vaults and a lot of stuff about the relationships between the thieves and other peripheral characters. Braugher's great but nobody else really stands out in my mind at this point.
They're replaying the first episode right now.
