Hello everyone!
First off all, i'm new here. I discovered the forums a while ago and today I thought why not start up and join. Which actually took a while because I couldn't find the "register" button..... really someone should take a look at the design of this forum haha.
Anyway I started Thief I, installing was rather easy once I read about the solution for the NT problem and applied Direct 3D issue fix.
So here I am. Sitting in my apartment. Starting Thief. And I thought maybe I should share my adventure 'playing through the Thief series' with you. So here goes.
Oh and please don't look at my grammar. English isn't my first language :-).

PART I: THE TRAINING
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the mysterious meeting with the Keeper I chose to join the Keepers. I've spent some time with them now right up to the moment I had to do the training. So I started in this round chamber. A voice was guiding me. Telling me the first and foremost important rule of the Keepers. The darkness is your allie. Stay in the shadows and avoid the light. Move silently and only use your weapons when there is no other solution. Ofcourse I also had the famous bow training. Where I discovered I have a darn good aim. Could have shot the pigeon's from the roof if I wanted too I tell ya. During training the strangest thing happend to me. When the guard and I where done training I agreed to accompany him. And we walked into the adjoining house. And in it there was a big chamber. It had the size of a dinner hall, and there was a strange metallic object. And a note with weird quotes. I'm not quite sure what it meant.... I soon left the place to pick up my pace onto the end of the training. After the obstacle course and discovering the right food I had myself some refreshments. I even managed to grab some vase. It was worth quite alot. I think my thieving skills really sky rocketed thanks to the Keepers. After my training I decided i've learned all there is to learn. Besides the Keepers have a different view on things then I do. I don't want to stand between them and their wars with others.... *Hammerites I believe they are called.*
So I left the Keepers.
I'm on my own again.
My old apartment is still uninhabitant. So i'll keep making use of that.
Now it's time to go.
Into the night.
Into the dark.
Time to give Lord Bafford a little visit....

Hey, welcome to the forums!!! I just joined earlier this week, however I had been lurking around for some time:laff:, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only newbie around here, though. I'm glad see you're enjoying Thief, it's definitely one of the best (if not the best;)) games out there. If you haven't already done so, I'd definitely advise you to try out some of the great Fan Missions made by the community, you can download many of them from (

PART II: LORD BAFFORD'S MANOR
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a dark night when I visited my associate Cutty in the Grieving Burrick Inn. He told me he had a job for me. He wanted me to rob a priced scepter. My first reaction was sceptical. I asked him where I could find this scepter. He just replied with 'Lord Bafford'. Apparently Lord Bafford was out of town tonight, accompanied by his trusted head of guards. So according to Cutty breaking in the mansion wouldn't be much of a problem... besides most of the guards would probably have a paryty of their own. Besides. I needed the money. And if I where there I could easily pick up some extra's for myself. So I agreed to do the job. Cutty gave me a map which roughly reveiled the insides of the manor. Now with everything in place it was time to go to work.
Lord Bafford's Manor lies in the South Quarter of the city. A quarter which is as well known for it's corrupt as it is for it's wealth. A perfect place for a *ahum* businessman like myself. It didn't took me long to travel to the South Quarter. Cutty told me the best ways to get in undetected was to go to the outside guardhouse and steal a key from the guard there. Since there was only one guard it was like stealing candy from a baby. Just to be on the safe side I decided to travel through the sewers. Not a very pleasant way to travel but it beats walking through a heavily guarded front gate. Making my way through the sewers I managed to travel quite a stretch underground, all the way to the Manor. Once I was topside again I knocked out the guard in front of the guard house and snatched his key. After that I threw him down the well, followed a few seconds later by myself.
Down the well I swam through a few tunnels. I discovered a side tunnel which led to a small cave. After disposing myself of some spiders I came across a chest where I found my first little extra of the night. It should be just enough to pay the rent. Backtracking to the tunnels I finally entered the manor. I was in the cellar with a few guard and some servants sleeping in their quarters. I managed to slip by them and moved on to the kitchen. The smell of food made me come out of the shadows and give the cook a gentle welcome with my trusted blackjack. Refreshed with a nice piece of bread and some cheese I was on my way again. Apperantly the kitchen led to a smaller hall with a guard patrolling it. I got out my bow and took out some water arrows. I shot out some torches and smiled when I heard the guard reply with 'Darn torches.... where are does servants when you need them' to the sudden change of environment. From the hall I quickly moved on through a few smaller interconnected rooms, stealing a few nice vases on the way. I moved one level up and got into the guards private quarters. 'Now lets find out how much Lord Bafford pays his trusted guards' I mumbled to myself. I openend some chests and my, my this would surely pay the rent!
I soon discovered that I've stolen most of the valuables in the manor so it was time to move on to the one thing I came for. Lord Baffords priceless scepter. I kept thinking that the only thing that is priceless about it is the face of Bafford when he finds out that it's missing. I know Cutty will pay me a great deal of money for it.... Silently I found my way to one of the bigger suites. I slit my sword through one of the papers and found a backdoor. It led through some stairs which led through a small room. 'Aah, more of my favorite metal' I whispered. When I was done collecting all the coins I made my way back and sneaked towards the throne room. I disposoed myself of the last guard and entered the throne room. There it was. The scepter. I could sure understand why Cutty wanted this scepter so bad. I should've asked for more I kept thinking.... too late now. I snatched the scepter and dissapeared through one of the windows in the throne room. I joked '... and he dissapeared like a thief in the night.'
Standing outside again I noticed the moon making way for the sun. I decided to take the same way back, through the sewers again, but this time I had alot more to carry then the first time I entered. My plan was to go straight home but I changed the plan and decided to give Cutty a visit first. But on entering the building where he lives I noticed that the premises as been compromised. Guards where standing everywher. Apperantly Cutty has been arrested. I had some guesses about why he was arrested. I figured since Cutty still owed me money for this job the best thing to do is to find out about is whereabouts. So I went to my appartment and stashed the stolen goods and went on my way to the Grieving Burrick Inn. The best place to start when you are looking for answers. I only hoped it would be the answers I wanted to hear. Because I am still in need of a great deal of money. And with that closing thought I lwas underway.
