This is my first post here, and it's in the form of a question, more or less.
Has there been an attempt at transcribing the contents of the Thief games? I'm talking about the lot. Pre-mission quotes, guard monologues/dialogues/prayers, cutscenes, the hints that can be purchased before certain missions, and of course the books, scrolls and other readable material found throughout the levels.
Has this been done? Or has it been established that it's just too big an undertaking? I've browsed through the thread titles but came up empty-handed. I know that there have been projects aiming to map out the City and its surroundings, and listing all the characters, for example, and that's how I came to think of this.
I'd be very grateful for any information.

If you do a search for transcript a few useful threads should be found.

I've done a bit of spelunking, and this is what I've found (correct me if I'm wrong, though):
TDP -
Readable material: Yes.
In-game dialogues: Yes.
In-game monologues: No.
Cutscene mono/dialogues: No.
Pre-mission quotes: No.
TMA -
Readable material: Yes.
In-game dialogues: Yes.
In-game monologues: No.
Cutscene mono/dialogues: No.
Pre-mission quotes: No.
Now, the problem with the TDP/TMA readable material is that the download of the .zip-file ((
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82320)) is painfully slow, and actually stops dead in its tracks after a minute or so. That means that I haven't actually been able to take a look at it, so I don't know if it contains scrolls and letters as well as books.
Another annoyance is that the transcripts are fragmented and spread over several threads and files, instead of being collected as a single file. Note that I'm not discrediting the ones who did this amazing job, just pointing out that their efforts are... scattered. If I get enough spare time, I might do something about that myself.

I have a related question. I tried doing a search but gotten pretty broad results.
Has anyone tried adapting the games (at least the first two), into a full-length novel, or something similar? I seem to recall something along these lines, but can't find anything right now...

not a novel of the first games per se, but Correspondance of Thieves was probably the longest (novel length anyway) story set in the city and revolving within the world.
Nightfall was in the process of rewriting it last i heard and the few chapters that i proofread were better than the origional version and hopefully will make it to print (at least on his site) more sooner than later.
As for transcribing the game? parts of it have been written out, songs, chants and some gibberish stuff i could probably dig up but certainly not all the text from the game.

I meant more of somebody attempting to make a narrative story out of the games.

That would cool. Someone did that for Baldur's Gate 2, both a "good" version and a "evil" version. I read the darkfiles things, it was pretty cool but more like narrative sort.
