Ok, let me preface this by saying it is NOT all inclusive. In fact, I ran out of room for the events that occur in-game. I found a timeline on a Thief wiki, and used parts of it, because it made sense to me. TO ME, this is how the Thief universe appears. Feel free to opine, dissect, destroy...
And yes, I pulled the numbers straight out of my arse. But they seemed to make logical sense to me, and I'll defend any numbers that you have questions about. HOPEFULLY, nothing is grossly out of place... :p

I was under the impression that the Mechanists formed after TDP.

The Mechanists formed before the final cutscene, and Karras was already corrupt during TDP, but the Pagan siege of the Hammerite Temple clinched it, and gave Karras his final motivation, and made it easier for him to persuade his brethren that the old ways were not enough. We can't pin down when he and Cavador and others found the Lost City for themselves, after the Keepers, the Hand Brotherhood, and then Garrett, to excavate and make the discoveries that brought about the Masked Servants, Cultivators, and Necrotic Mutox, but with gears and boilers already long in use by the Hammerites and new inventions being sought, Karras wasn't too far away from pushing the tech into taboo territory, furthered by the Precursor tech.

I should make my version. I put TDP and TMA ten years apart, and the fall of KD a thousand years ago. I wanted more breathing room. (And I may just completely write TDS out. ;) )

For a plausible story starting around thousands of years BBG, which would explain the origins of the Thief universe plus the true identities of the Builder, Trickster and more, check the story I wrote for Insanity's Crescendo.

According to your timeline, Garrett was only 24 in TDP, had left the Keepers only a couple of years earlier and was still under 30 at the end of TDS. I always considered him to be older, maybe in his early thirties, at the beginning of TDP, and would imagine that it took him more than two years to hone his skills and become a Master Thief after leaving the Keepers.

I consider him younger, especially with the rebellious thoughts when leaving the Keepers – and also remembering that people didn't get very old in the middle ages and later. Five to eight years of training and a starting age of eleven to thirteen years seems reasonable to me.
Oh, and... Chewbubba, great work nonetheless. :thumb:

I was under the impression that the Metal Age was one year after Dark Project. Can't remember if that was rumour or verified fact though. There are some ingame quotes to support it though - "The city sure has changed in the past year" etc.
