I don't really want to do speed runs. I'd rather they be closer to walkthroughs.
I hope that it will show how to climb back up the clocktower. :) That's the only part I had problems with and I had to restart it. Apart from that I didn't really need a walkthrough for it. I hope you split it apart into level movies, otherwise it will be a huge download. And put it on Bittorrent for distribution!
Nice idea though. :)

Also, smith...are you looking for pity by overreacting? Go if you want, it is your project. However, I'd like to think we are all calm, mature individuals here. Your reaction was inappropriate and foolish.

I'm interested in seeing the vids, but I'm not interested in installing another program (emule) - can they be put up by bittorrent or just plain hosted somewhere?

Whatever happened to this? I was interested to see it :(

I've been looking for a Thief/Thief II speedrun/time attack/video playthrough for quite some time...I hope these will someday turn up. :)
At some point, I'd like to go back to recording the ambient audio for each mission as well, for a 'soundtrack' to each mission. It got a little time consuming, and I got a little busy...someday.
I love watching game playthrough videos...the next best thing to actually playing the game for those times that you can't. ;)

yap, archive.org hosts quite a lot of speedruns. And for (Quake mostly)
is dedicated site at (
http://www.planetquake.com/sda/)
I recently downloaded and burned bunch of speedruns. Half Life and 2, some funny Quake vids, Fallout 1 and 2 speedruns!, Halo and more.
Why wouldn't we record demos and then run and capture those demos to a video afterwards? Regular playthrough could be a different project(s) by whomever go through that feat. But a collective speedrun could be a separate project.
First anybody can submit a speedrun for any levels and fastest demos will be kept. After we think no big improvements can be made, those are frapped/otherwise captured to videos are put together and archived. Biggest question is if you are allowed to purchase any equipment. That could be disallowed.
Or you can purchase any equipment you can when you skip to a certain level. The recent thief/thief2 save-game pack posted could be used for this purpose. Thief Gold's 3 extra missions could be just a bonus vids. or ThiefG done separately, or maybe that's just too much repetition.
Should speedruns be made on Expert or Normal? Latter would be best for speedrun purposes, but expert is somewhat de facto skill level for most of us.I have played so long with ultimate difficulty mod, that I hardly remember what it was like without it.
