I downloaded and viewed your Undercover video, ejsmith.
In a word, Excellent!!!
I struggled a bit with the ogg vorbis container but after installing codecs and filters and still not being able to play the file I thought I'd simply try renaming it to an avi extension. Played fine at that point. Not sure after all that just what made it work. And I've got miscellaneous Gordian Knot XviD and DivX codecs already installed so that solution may not work for all.
I even changed it to full screen for a bit and it was indeed just like replaying an ingame recording or "demo" as they're sometimes referred to.
Once again, a pleasure to view.
Now, I'm a Ghoster. So, your playing style left me a bit breathless. But I've tried playing through these missions with the mindset of video walkthroughs and I can appreciate your approach. Strafe-running in Thief? Thief Done Quick? Had me laughing out loud. ;)
All in all an enjoyable time. Your efforts are appreciated. By all means keep us informed on your progress with this. I for one would just love to have a full set of video walkthroughs for all the Thief games handy on my system.
Thanks.

Well, (
http://www.archive.org/details/thief1_gold) TDPG is up on Archive.org, and I'm working on TMA. It's coming along. ffox helped me get passed Eavesdropping, which stuck me for about a week, and I just completed Bank last night. I still have to arrange and encode them, though. Encoding takes quite awhile.

Oooh, this is exciting. I hope things are going well with TMA.
Given any thought to doing TDS after and having a complete series? :D

Just wanted to necro-bump the dust off of this thread...any chance that a run of TMA is still in the works?
I really enjoy watching the TG videos...especially with the original cutscene .avi files mixed in appropriately.

I've finally managed to push my Scottish heritage into the corner long enough to buy the Fraps registered version and am setting out to record Ghost Mode runs of these games. I see this as a "lifelong" project. Not really lifelong but I cannot see the end from here. I enjoyed ejsmith's TG films so much (they're still sitting on my system and I watch through one or two a week) that I'm encouraged to try my hand. Problem is Ghosting requires a lot more time than blackjack runs so I'm not sure how this will work out. Starting with one of my all-time favourites: Shipping ... & Receiving Perfect Thief run (Ghost plus all loot - no damage means no slashing banners so transmigration on Davidson's ship.) Not sure I should have posted this. Now I'll feel obligated to see it through. Oh, well. I'll see how it goes.

Old Fraps versions like my 2.0.0 have no video recording limitations, no watermark on videos. It doesn't have as much options (screenshots only BMP, video FPS range only 15-30, simplified benchmarking) but it's fully functional.
PM me if you want it and I'll send you.

Hmm, my blockbuster DVD vs watching someone do a banner transmigration for thirty minutes.
Hmm.

This sounds like an amazing idea! I would be most interested in your efforts. Best of luck!

Well, I've got the first little bit done now. Thought I'd better work through the logistics of video editing to see how it was all going to work so I put it together with just the first half-hour. Just the same this should be enough to get the idea. Alas, I don't have enough free disc space to do this complete without compressing as I go. Still, and even with ejsmith's 500Mb per hour rate, I don' think the results are that bad. Fraps records different lengths of video and audio so I had to wrestle a bit with that but seems I've got it sorted out now. And I don't think I'll try Ironman although I have completed this mission Ironman Perfect Thief once before. There's a link at the end of this post. YouSendIt has limited numbers of downloads and only for a week so first come first serve, I guess. Looking forward to any comments before I get too far into this. With thanks.

Well done! Both the video and audio quality are excellent...very watchable. The "player" movement also feels very smooth and natural, and fits into the context of the gameplay nicely. I'd love to see more, if possible.
Great work, thanks!
