I mention this for anyone on a tight budget. My wife's new computer (Celeron 3400) does not have a graphics card or a sound card, but nevertheless will run all three Thief games off the integrated graphics/sound.
The mobo is an Asus M2N-MX, which only costs £42 GBP. The integrated graphics is NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 430 with 256MB, and the sound is SoundMAX.
Thief 3 is a bit jerky but playable. Thief 1 and 2 are fine, with good fog in Thief 2.
The only problem I had getting anything to run was the dreaded black screen, cured by uninstalling AviSplitter (via regsvr32 /u avisplitter.ax).

The onboard Gfx is not bad, (same as a base spec 6600)
The onboard sound is AC97 so good enough for most games
