A number of taffers have put together, or tried to, pen & paper RPGs built around Thief. I've seen early discussions on them, but never saw the end result or knew anyone who was pretty satisfied with what they had. They usually took existing rules and combined them with others, like AD&D core rules here, GURPS there, Grim & Gritty, Savage Worlds, The Burning Wheel, RISU, and FUDGE, but I never understood why they didn't just build it from scratch from what they knew since Thief is too different than anything, made from too many ideas to make a comfortable fit with only two or three existing IPs.

Yeah, that's pretty much why I finally gave up back then ^^ Hard to find a good system that would actually fit well. For a while I considered the Storyteller System from old/new WoD, but it can be difficult to manage when it comes to magic or magic-like powers (e.g. Hammerite priests throwing small magical hammers at a target, or glyphs).
Also, another couple of questions: is there a thread or a page where I can find a collection of characters' screenshots that could be used for rough graphical reference? The Hamm- *ahem* Builders from the Dark Mod are a nice start, but it'd be nice to have such a good reference for Keepers and Pagans (I'm thinking more TMA-like Pagans than Thief 3 Pagans), or common citizens' clothes (again, I prefer the renaissance-style outfits from TDP and TMA, TDS clothing is much more medieval).
And, last but not least: how about Eidos' intellectual property? I guess a Thief-based UO shard might piss someone off, were we to keep the original names. :erg:

Oh my. :o
Yes, the last two pics are perfect - though I trust our graphic designer enough to know she'd make an awesome job even from in-game screens, since most of them will have to be used as a reference and re-drawn anyway :)

Aaand here I am. Sorry I'm late, work shifts can be awful. :P
Texture files would be nice, they can give a good idea of the overall aesthetics of clothing and characters, and are a perfect starting point. Cutscenes & in-game screens can then be used to have a better idea of what is what.
I'm taking a look at mesh.crf right now, hopefully we may have something to show you in no time. ;)
To everyone else: oh, come on! Only two people got interested in this?

This sub-forum has really depopulated since 2010, and the talent pool is really spread out and dug in with their own projects. It's hard to say who is waiting for a more tangible idea of your project's direction, who is content or neutral with what they've read so far and feel they have nothing to add. Just keep adding updates here and there and it'll gather attention. :)
I'll be back later with Pagans and Commoners (usually they are just various servants) images.
EDIT: Here you go with the first big batch. Let me know what you want done differently. For this category, do you also want Rosie the prostitute, Basso, or anyone along those lines, or just the general models for filling out the world? Give me the names of any texture files you like in the *.CRFs, too, and I'll go get the models. :)

It probably seems that way but many people read without posting. I'm sure there'll be a lot more visible interest if something is actually available for people to try rather than just an idea. There have been many good concepts over the years, but very few have actually resulted in something. As a result people are wary about getting too excited about every idea produced but it also makes those projects that do work out very special.

Reading and not posting isn't participating. Hundreds of guests read these threads, but without contribution, I watched this subforum atrophy last year, with the 30 day index shrunk down to a handful of threads, other than the stickies. Participation has been low for years since the explosion of May-to-July 2009, when, by August, several community projects in this subforum ceased to wait for T4. It used to be very busy here, for quite some time after the games weren't being made anymore. Many of the past participants are gone completely, or have stopped logging in, and they outnumber the people who just fell out of interest or take issue.

There are 40 threads with contributions in the last month - it's definitely not as active as it once was but that's more than a handful.
