EDIT: Here you go with the first big batch. Let me know what you want done differently. For this category, do you also want Rosie the prostitute, Basso, or anyone along those lines, or just the general models for filling out the world? Give me the names of any texture files you like in the *.CRFs, too, and I'll go get the models. :)
That's actually very helpful. :) No need to bother with specific characters, once given the general idea I'm sure some in-game screens will do the trick if anything else is needed. Some nobleman (Ramirez, Bafford, performers and audience from the opera house), keepers and thieves should be just fine to give us a good start on how armour and clothing should look on the in-game paperdoll. For Hammerites reference we'll stick to the ones from the Dark Mod and TDP concept art, since their outfit is much clearer and defined than it was in T1/T2 (and I didn't really like the look they gave them in T3 - but then, I liked very few things from T3 :p )

I'm sure there'll be a lot more visible interest if something is actually available for people to try rather than just an idea.
True, it's pretty much just an idea right now, the scripts are there but the map's still missing - and yet, some input & discussions about the game mechanics themself would be most helpful. For example, on how to let players handle glyph magic or Hammerite "class features" (not that I even remotely wish to make them a "class", but the ability to destroy zombies with just their sledgehammers comes to mind), or thoughts on how to make the game enjoyable even to the ones who'd want to, say, be common citizens with a shop (aka "crafters"). We have some ideas of our own and we're starting by working on them, but suggestions are always more than welcome. ;)

Hello everyone, I'm the crazy girl currently having some fun recreating Thief's graphics for this project. The pics linked and posted in previous replies are just perfect, the more you can show me, the better I can rearrange and re-draw them.
I've just finished a rough sketch of how a Hammerite's armor could look using models from The Dark Mod as a reference, you can find it here:
Inline Image:
http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/5554/hammerite.pngStill a work in progress. Some details can be hard to convey in a handful of pixels, but I hope you'll like it.
Suggestions and constructive criticism are welcome! :)

There are 40 threads with contributions in the last month - it's definitely not as active as it once was but that's more than a handful.
I gave a timeline to go with that statement. I wasn't talking about last
month.
EDIT: Yep. I definitely said last
year.
The March 5th announcement
this year of Thief 4 has brought people around again, not the trilogy.
On topic: Nice! Is that how large the characters will appear in-game? Crimson is the Hammerites' defining color, and TDM has purposely avoided copying Thief too closely, but a blending of ideas is welcome. Have you seen the concept art for The Dark Project? I wish we had full-size sketches.

If war is what the Hammerites are dressed up for, then the armor makes sense to me. Otherwise, they are about worship and building things, forging things, smiting heathens in the streets, heh heh.
Keeper Novices and Acolytes don't cast Glyph spells, but Acolytes have access to Glyphs set in place for them. Before TDS, all the spells were cast primarily with the use of the hands, and wands weren't shown. The Pagan Dyan has her staff of unknown use. The Trickster had The Eye attached to the end of a wand, which is hard to see in the cutscene, but is fleshed out in the gamefiles and hinted at in the Goodies that came with the full Thief Gold edition.
I'll be back later with some stuff.
EDIT: Bafford's only seen in the briefing video. Bram Gervaisius's wardrobe may be in a similar vein, less flouncy, though Bafford's a party animal and clownish:

He seems to be wearing his signet ring, which Bafford had, or had a copy of at his place (I wonder if Ramirez knew, or if Bafford had permission to sign documents with it, Ramirez lost it there, or something):

Yep, that's the standard paperdoll size for Ultima Online, unfortunately. Can still be used to come up with very nice stuff, but I have often wished it was a tad bigger :P
The concept art will come in handy, we were just talking last night about how badass the crossbow-Hammerite looks. ;) And yes, that sketch is what a Hammerite-at-war would wear. We'll definitely "crimson it up" a bit (would be a shame not to), and add something else for them to wear.

That's pretty useful. We've been thinking about implementing glyphs also as a kind of sign code: only players in the Keepers faction would be able to "
leave them everywhere" to mark specific areas, or as warning signs. In game, they'd be invisible to anyone but other Keepers. Nothing too flashy or exactly "magical", but it's something to begin with.
By the way, are Keepers Instructors the only ones to wear that green/greenish surcoat and dark hood, or could it just be the "official Keeper outfit" from the first two games, before they became more medieval monk-style? I remember seeing three of them in Life of the Party, all of them dressed in dark green plus hood (of course, in the game cutscenes they don't look like that at all anyway, being cloaked and caped in black).

Huh, always thought he was the guy at the Opera House, the one on the 2nd floor promenade with the "fit for a queen" necklace for Carmella. :weird:
Anyway, we'll hopefully be back soon with something more. :)

There are a few "Opera Guest" models that are all the same, and both Ramirez and the "Merchant" models are the same meshes as the male Opera guests, minus the spiked star. If you want the Opera Guests, too, I can grab 'em. But you aren't the only one who thought that.
After TDP/Gold employed Glyph markers, I wondered why we didn't see more of them, and I've wished, as a player, that I could leave marks as breadcrumbs to help in some disorienting maps, and some players took the time to use junk objects for the same purpose.
All the pre-TDS Keepers wear those green cloaks as far as we ever see, though the concept art favored Jedi brown or lighter. The thieves and pirates (except Markham) are shown in the black.
And with the Hammerites, just think of the Catholic Inquisitors, the Rosicrucians, and Templars, the devs took inspiration from, heh heh, with the concept of bible-thumping and machismo (and yeah, metallurgy) symbolized in that huge hammer. :laff:

I've been desperately seeking some Keeper concept art from the first two games, are there any to be found? TDS is seriously lacking in Keepers in-game screenshots, too, if you can point me to any of this it would really help. :)
(you, Diana and Al_B are pretty much the only ones that showed any interest, but I keep trusting someone else will show up :P)
jtr7 on 26/5/2013 at 02:09
Here are the TDS Keeper models. Most of them repeat the same textures, wrapped over male or female meshes. The distinguishing aspect of Orland's texture is only his head, but the body ornamentation is shared on many models. Elders. The Scribes have the brown Glyph stripes from shoulders to hips. Artemus has his own texture, but it's similar for the most part to, say, Caduca's. Gamall's clothing is very different than the concept art, but one could pretend that the concept art shows her clothing had she successfully been promoted. :p

If you mean "world" as in "globe," we have no idea, haha. If the globe depicted in the
Casing the Joint briefing wasn't entirely arbitrary, I personally lean toward this area for placing The City on the southern coast, based on how lit that quadrant is in the image, the climate of The City, and the real world latitudes of the regions that the devs drew upon for inspiration. :p It's anyone's guess, really.
The globe from the briefing:(

For my own fanfic, I lean toward the right/eastern choice, so the Hand Mages don't have take a ship across with their "caravans from the East", and all the regions mentioned in the texts are more accessible, including wherever the Monarchy is supposed to be:(

STATE OF GILVER EXPORTING COMPANY
Our shipment to be
exported overseas to Governor Horridge is ready. It is waiting over in Gilver's area and will be shipped out tomorrow afternoon. Having to replace last month's shipment that was lost at sea is putting the company in serious financial trouble. Gilver took out a loan from the First City Bank and Trust to cover the extra expenses. If we don't increase profits next month then we won't have enough money to stay in business. Fortunately, we just received an unexpected order this morning, and this will bring in some extra money that we can use to pay back the loan. I just had a new batch of shipping labels printed out, and I will bring them over to Gilver in the morning.

JOURNAL ENTRY # 4279
I don't know what is happening to my business. Every attempt to gain extra profit only leads me to more loss. On paper, every business plan that I devise with Bramrich seems flawless, but in practice, they always fall through. Last month's
overseas export to Governor Horridge was supposed to make us rich, but the ship never made it to its destination. I suspect piracy. I had to take out a loan just to cover last month's losses. I was hoping to have this reshipment to the Governor out the door two days ago, but my workers seem to have a hard time toting that barge and lifting that bale when I really need them. I would fire them all in a second, but I wouldn't be able to find anyone to work for what little I can afford to pay. I just finalized the Governor's shipment, and I had my secretary run over to Bramrich's office to grab the shipping label so that it can be attached to the outgoing crate. I'm going over to the Crippled Burrick for a drink, then it's back here for more paperwork.

It hast come to our attention that the Pagans art after a small tree that recently
arrived by boat to thy district, Docks. 'Tis imperative they don't obtain it! If 'tis anything like the Pagan magics thus far, 'twill be bad for us indeed. The cursed thing is being held by the City Watch. Methinks they must side with the Pagans, or perhaps greed hast o'ercome their sense of righteousness. If though thinkest an offer of more money would set things aright, then 'twould be a goodly plan. Brother Ondilot thinkest we should burn the tree in a furnace. That the furnace, most blessed vessel of the will of the Master Builder, will destroy the tree and consume its terrible magics. 'Tis a furnace in the Tavern there in Docks--and perhaps, by the Builder's grace, 'twill do the job. Though, 'tis a poor substitute for a Hammerite furnace.
