This is a really awesome find! Thank you for setting it up for modern computer use, voodoo47. It's greatly appreciated:thumb: Have to say, I've cracked a few chuckles so far at the early voice acting for the guards and thieves due to how bad it is, in comparison to the final game. It also feels strange hearing Thief 1 sound effects in a official Thief 2 level pretty much but again, this is an early alpha, so perfectly understandable. Really having a blast with this so far, even if it is for the most part, just the Life of the Party mission with a slightly altered story.

if it was more then just a demo i might get a unzipper but for a mission that would probably take me about 30 min i can wait, thank you all for concern
So instead of waiting 30 minutes you'll wait a few months.
Yeah, that's not crazy at all.

and the reason zipped files first came out was to compact the size of file to make it quicker to download.
Right, that hasn't changed. The zip file in question here is 180 MB. Once you unzip it, it consists of about 1500 files totaling 325 MB. It has both the mission files and the Thief game engine files together in the same package, that's why it's so large. What you have to keep in mind here is that this is not an FM, it's demo. It doesn't rely on Darkloader or any existing Thief game already installed on your PC, it runs 100% on it's own.

It is a full mission. But it is a 'only' a demo created by LGS for the entire Thief2 game. It demos Thief2, not 'Life of the Party'.
And one reason for using the 7zip format was probably to make sure no one would come up with the crazy idea to load it like an FM. ;)

Like many others, this demo was my introduction to Thief and it's great to be able to play it again - thanks voodoo47!
I can't get into the 2 rooms in Angel Watch on the lower floor (SW corner). I thought the key in the original demo was on a patrolling guard - but there doesn't seem to be one :erg: .
Can anyone help?
voodoo47 on 21/6/2013 at 17:13
yes, this is bug in the new demo. a fixed version of the demo is already up (first post), as well as a standalone fix for those who already downloaded the previous versions, but unfortunately, this means you you will have to restart your game after applying the fix, or you won't be able to access the area with the new scripture of master builder at all.

Great work voodoo47 - thanks for the fixed version.
Downloaded and played through again. Mechanist guard with key was patrolling and I was able to access the 2 rooms in Angel Watch no problem. Got the loot in the rooms - finished 2725 total. :thumb:

Hi, is this a new mission or a remake?
Renault on 24/6/2013 at 06:02
Neither - check the first post of the thread, all the details are there.

it's a restoration project. also, new build is up, includes (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141806&p=2195851&viewfull=1#post2195851) antimatter_16's fixed sound schemas, which means the key pickup sound works again.
at this moment, I'm not aware of any unresolved issues left in the restored demo.
//ok, the masked servants were getting stuck on various furniture objects a bit too much - fixed the waypoints to prevent this.
//fixed a couple of more small issues - for example, it's now finally possible to get ALL the loot.
