Wait, I'm confused. Is there more than one version of Unwelcome Guest? The Thief 2 demo has been around for a long time and I already have it. Judging by the name of this thread, I'm guessing this is even older than the regular T2 demo? Or is it the same demo? (Yes, I read the first post and am aware that this package discussed in here has new textures and whatnot. I'm just trying to determine if overall it's the same Unwelcome Guest demo that I already have.)

It's essentially the same demo, it just uses NewDark so it will run on current hardware and it takes advantage of the perks that NewDark provides.

Okay, thanks Brethren.

to make it perfectly clear, this is the original T2 demo, made compatible with NewDark, with (hopefully all) the worst original bugs fixed, relit to 32bit, and a bunch of hires textures and models added.
//updated to 1.08 (fixed a couple of tiny issues). this should be the "final" release.
voodoo47 on 23/11/2013 at 21:53
squashed a few more tiny bugs, added a bunch of more updated assets, and uploaded as 1.09.
//some more tiny fixes, and 1.10 is out. at this point, any more bugfixing is not really worth the work, so 1.10 should be the final version. maybe I'll wrap it in some fancy installer at some point.

Hi at all...
i am new to this forum but not to the Thief Series ;-)
I've downloaded this awesome ReCreation of the official demo.
First, Thank you everyone who created it.
I love the old style of the Party Mission.
But i was confused that this recreation hasn't german translations included.
So it pushes me to learn how to mod this game or for first time, translating it^^
So yesterday on evening i've finished it and now i have a full portable/standalone German Thief 2 Lost Alpha Demo.
But it was necessary to extract some things from .crf files and now i can't repack them again?
My question is now how can i do that?
I want to upload and share it with the forum.
regards,

Welcome to the forum spk64. I can't help you I'm afraid as I'm not technically minded, but I'm sure someone will come along soon to tell you how to do that.

That's pretty easy. You can create a .zip file with all the files in their right folder (for example, models with .bin extension go in obj folder, textures for those objects in obj\txt16) and upload that.
That said, you could also make a .crf yourself by just renaming the .zip extension to .crf, I believe. Give it a try and see if you can open the zup after changing it to .crf. From what I understand, .crf files are basically zip files in disguise.

Thank you all for your Replies...
I've packed the intrface Folder in RES and resfix to .zip file with 7zip
compression strength: normal
compression method: Deflate
wordsizebook: 32 kb
wordsize: 32
but it doesn't work?
Maybe 7zip is the problem or compression strength or compression method?
If no one can answer at the moment...
another question,
Is the website thief-thecircle.com closed?
EDIT:
Tested compression strengths
and all compression methods LZMA, PPMd, BZip2 and Deflate64 but nothing works.
Yesterday i give it a try on google but there aren't useful results about a packing.

Not sure what you are doing exactly, but it seems clear that you are doing something wrong.
Sounds like you are trying to place a ZIP within the RES folder ?
That won't work.
- You can use 7-ZIP, but make sure to specify ZIP as compression format. No need to change any of the advanced compression settings.
- You must rename it and give it the extension .CRF.
- Note that DARKINST.CFG speficies a couple of folders where it looks for resources and place them in the same place as it is done in the demo.
resname_base .\hires+.\resfix+.\RES
Or simply don't mess with creating CRFs at all and simply drop your resources into corresponding folders
(e.g.: extract resfix/intrface.CRF into resfix/intrface)
