the demo is not a recreation, it's a restoration. the original stuff is all there.
repacking modified files back into crfs is not what I would recommend - just make a small mod out of your german files (meaning you will have to preserve the standard file structure, example - create a folder named GERMAN, inside, create another one named INTRFACE, and place your translated stuff in there), edit cam_mod.ini, add the folder with the files at the beginning of the mod_path (change mod_path hires\newsky into mod_path german+hires\newsky), and the first mod for the demo is done.
this brings me to something I've forgotten to mention - the restored demo is basically free Thief2, minus the full campaign. you can mod it just like the full game, you can install the editor and create fan missions, all the assets (gamesys, textures, objects etc) are free to share, as they are either 3rdparty resources or were included in the original demo, so basically, unless you start to import original LGS stuff from the final game, you can do anything you want.

That is not what i want.
Hm.. than i won't release it.
I've doing all things like original Demo German folder English Folder etc.
But if i can't repack them i saw no chance for it.
Because i hate extremly loosed files.
(Skyrim Style and i spit on this style)
I know that i have to set the extension/compression to ZIP and rename it to crf.
I was replacing the .CRF files inside the RES folder and not packing the RES folder into a zip.
But it doesn't work... For me it seems that the size and the method is the problem.
And i have no more fun on testing more tools and his included settings.

It might be a good idea to upload whatever you have somewhere on some free file-hoster, so people can look into what might be wrong.
The problem can not be that big after all.

An (rather) unidentified T2 demo bug (NewDark version), was reported in Dark Engine bugs? I noticed that this is imposible in unpatched T2 demo. As if this is a lean bug on doors (

no idea. anyway, that area is off limits/not reachable by normal means, so I'm not too concerned with weird stuff happening at that place (for example, the fog and level geometry is glitching out there because of the the big view distance. as the map is only available stripped, there is no way all the problems can be fixed completely).

One bug, as I noticed: blockjacking exploit is still possible in Thief 2 demo 1.10.

I don't know how to prevent/fix this (looks like blockjacking has been fixed in TFix, but I have no idea whether this was a newdark thing or a gamesys fix by one of the contributors). as far as exploits (and cheats as well) go, the best solution is just NOT doing it. making everything exploit proof is a gigantic (if not impossible) task - for example, using stacking, you are able to get to almost any place of any level. while this is technically an exploit, the only solutions are to modify the obj physics to make sure it's impossible to stack items (bad idea, as there might be unpredictable side effects, like not being able to pass through places where a bit of stacking is actually required to complete the puzzle), or invisi-wall off the entire level, which is just crazy (I have actually done this at a couple of places where there is a chance even a regular player might stumble somewhere where he could get stuck forever, but those are last resort exceptions).
also, you obviously like to exploit, why would I want to go and break you fun intentionally?

I also don't know, how to fix it, but in Thief Gold I managed to fix it by using other DARK.GAM (from TFix). Then blockjacking is impossible to do.
I see that maximum loot in this map is 2735, but maximum loot possible to get is 2725 (also bug, from original release).
EDIT: At the beggining in T2 demo 1.10, bell is disabled. In original release is enabled. But in two these releases this bell is audible.

the loot has been fixed (long ago). the new bell has no animation, this is a known issue.

First, thank you voodoo for doing this work and making it available to the community. I think it's a great and essential thing to preserve our history and keep it compatible with new hardware. So I appreciate all your efforts.
I get a black screen when the game actually starts. No problem with the menu screens but once the mission starts I can hear sounds but there's no picture.
