Gotcha. :)
Ok, I'm out. I just play games. Period.

sunjammer, as in the one behind sujammers tilesystem 2.0 in NWN?
I'm volunteering for a 'fullday' worrer. I've got some stuff going on soon, but I think I can manage stories, some sketches and 'intense' testing of the game.
Hold on, I'll be checking the new site now.
Edit: wasn't much there. What's the current situation?

Things are a bit slow while people deal with R/L, and most of the posting goes on in the Secret Hidden Developer Forums :p
If you're interested you should e-mail drac or leave a post.

So is this thing still cookin' or what?

Calm down sunjammer. I was only stating my opinion. Non-tile based games can be faster or slower depending on the game type and use of the engine. I really dont care what you think about it. I don't really have anything against tile-based engines themselves, but I'm the coder of this project, I'm not being paid for it, and I want to learn something from it. I'm not going to learn anything from doing another friggin tile-based game. Want an example of a good non-tile based game? Play the King's Quest games or LucasArt's Full Throttle.
To be honest I think you are just digging for things to bitch about. I never said it would be FASTER I said it would be more flexible and thats the damned truth. If you want to bitch about programming then go do it on a programming forum please. If you wouldn't mind, don't bother posting to this thread anymore unless you really have something useful to say as far as THIEF goes, not my development choices.
Some people...:tsktsk:
Didn't I say to keep comments constructive anyway?

And back ontopic: Aja
Yes this thing is still cooking. I've been pretty busy of late with a large project for a healthcare company at work, so my free time has been limited. I'm still working on a new engine since the old one, though pretty advanced, didn't give me quite as much flexibility as I wanted, and the gameplay it was built for doesn't suit itself as well to our current ideas.
Keep checking back every now and then, and one day you'll get a pleasant surprise!

Update!
A little game I wrote in highschool for text-only and just converted to the new Thief2D engine.
It's not finished yet as you can't die and you can't see your score.
This is the engine I will be using for the new Thief2D. Very quick and powerful, as well as cross-platform.
Visit the (
http://thief2d.dracsoft.com) website for a download link.
On another note, we have a LOT of story ideas. Thanks to ShadowPlay and the others I think this game is going to surprise you with it's story as well as gameplay.

heeh
a crusader-clone gameplay would be great with shadows and thief universe
should be really easy to do, too (relatively ofcourse)

Ok, if you've been reading the site, then you know about the gameplay changes. We need a new name for the project as this game won't be "2d" anymore. Any suggestions would be nice to have, so if you've got them, spit them out.
One recommendation was "Thief: The Isometric Project" or "Thief 2.5D"
If you don't like it then post a suggestion on our forums.
On another note, development continues. I hope you all had great holidays and have a great new year. Thanks to those of you who still show interest and support this project. As always we need help with 3d models and level design now, as well as possibly movies in the future.
