Reccomendation:
Torque2D. Get that engine and thank GarageGames and your lucky stars that you did.
I've never seen your engine or even looked at the screenshots, but I feel confident reccomending it over any homebrew 2D engine out there. ;) It's incredible just how productive you can be with it in a short amount of time.

Ok, if you've been reading the site, then you know about the gameplay changes. We need a new name for the project as this game won't be "2d" anymore. Any suggestions would be nice to have, so if you've got them, spit them out.
One recommendation was "Thief: The Isometric Project" or "Thief 2.5D"
If you don't like it then post a suggestion on our forums.
On another note, development continues. I hope you all had great holidays and have a great new year. Thanks to those of you who still show interest and support this project. As always we need help with 3d models and level design now, as well as possibly movies in the future.
Now really, the 2D idea was a brilliant idea, making it 3D only complicates things.
I was looking forward to the Black Thorne gameplay style mentioned earlier, where you can shoot an arrow at a guard or sneak by him for more points or something to that extent.

So I take it that this project is dead? Shame.

Yes, I've pretty much moved on to my online rpg project ((
http://mmorpg.dracsoft.com)). I never did get anyone to seriously work on graphics, and since I am terrible at them theres no way a 2d thief game would get done unless it was in console-mode with ASCII art :D.
I had help from a couple artists but many of them went away once they found out how tough it was to animate sprites smoothly with all the frames and animations they'd have to do.
However I always get this urge to make a 2d Thief game so its only a matter of time until I do make one. Though at this point I'd scrap the engine I was working on and redo it all cross-platform with OpenGL in C++ or D.
P.S > I love the Torque engine but unless someone wants to buy it for me I'll just make my own ;)

I still only have 4 people signed up in my Thief2D forums. Are you guys who haven't signed up genuinely not interested or just lazy? It's not like it costs you anything...
I made major progress today in both the editor and game itself. So check out the webpage. We got a new logo as well.
Well I tried to go to your website and it was down...
