bit late to the party - make sure you are not forcing anything vsync related. remember, the engine is the happiest at 60FPS, vsync not forced via gpu control panel.

I don't force V-sync at all, and part of my troubleshooting was limiting the framerate cap and phys_freq to 60fps/hz inside cam_ext/cfg. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Sorry to necro this thread but I managed to fix it by downloading a fresh copy of gen.osm and convict.osm off the internet and letting them replace my existing files. For some reason a fresh install didn't fix that but at least it's all good now! In case anyone has this issue in the future, this should be the definitive fix, and thanks again to voodoo47, baeuchlein and fortuni for taking the time to help me troubleshoot :thumb:

Revisiting a thread after only 1 week is not really necro!
Don't know what's going on with TFix, your the second person to report a problem with it in as many weeks, Apiai and myself discovered the line 'force_correct_rope_lengths 1' is missing from our TFix installs.
Hey ho, one day we may get a stable TFix (we can only hope).

You know, I have noticed that the steam version of Thief has been getting random updates recently (i've since turned auto-updates off), maybe that's been what's screwing things up? I severely doubt that anybody is actually *updating* the game, but it could be causing some bugs with tfix
baeuchlein on 16/10/2022 at 19:00
You are throwing TFix and T2Fix in the same pot here. TFix might be responsible for what happened to fortuni's and Apiai's Thief 1/Gold installations and was detected with the "Reminiscences" FMs, while T2Fix for Thief 2 might have something to do with Plibb's problem in "Thief2X". Maybe there is no common source for these problems.

Oops....Brain clearing not working today :erg:

I had the same problem exposed by the OP. Comparing the gen.osm and convict.osm files of the Steam clean install and what I had, the sizes didn't match; yesterday I manually installed NewDark on that clean installation and the bug went away.
Now this is guesswork, but either T2Fix replaces the script files in the main folder from the OSM folder, or the T2 Multiplayer mod replaces them with custom files. The latter seems possible, because the .osm file for T2 OM Soulforge caused a softlock trying to build one of the guiding beacon parts; I assume T2 Multiplayer needs custom scripts to make missions possible to co-op.
(Regarding TG on Steam getting updates, SteamDB states the depot hasn't been updated since 2020)

He also called T2X "Shadows of the Necroage".
He just really likes the word necro.

That's what it's called in the main menu and release thread of the Necro Age "overhaul" for Shadows of the Metal Age ;) I have of course played the original, vanilla texture version as well.. and you're right, Necro just kind of rolls off the tongue ;)

Interesting to see that other people are experiencing this issue, hope this thread helped out, it took me a good while to figure out what was going wrong. Still don't know what causes gen.osm and convict.osm to become altered, you may be onto something with the optional multiplayer mode included with TFix though. Gonna keep myself a folder with clean scripts though in case anything goes awry in the future!
