Hello!
Since this is undoubtedly the largest Thief community I feel it necessary to give you the opportunity to view a 1:31:15 run of Thief: Deadly Shadows on Expert difficulty, collecting 100% of the mission loot.
I am very pleased to share this and am only sorry to have only recently discovered this site!
You can find it here:
(

Requires DivX to view and available in 4 qualities as well as an obscenely long commentary, enjoy!

I've been waiting for this one! Thanks!

Great stuff. The Cradle looks very spooky.
Love the shadow cast by the girl's ghost.
I'm now tempted to play T: DS next instead of T: DP.

I can't think of anything more pointless. It's the complete antithesis of the Thief experience. No tension, no atmosphere, no plot, no gameplay, just run as quickly as you can through a predefined path that connects the loot together.

And you don't think I revelled in and appreciated the 'Thief Experience' during the huge amount of time I took to make these?
And I had great fun coming up with those predefined routes, and worked really hard to get the gameplay up to scratch considering I was fairly new at the game.
And what if people enjoy watching someone speed through a game without bothering with the plot or anything else, especially on a game like Thief whereby it goes against its entire nature, I find it brilliant!
If you think that one type of gameplay is pointless (or as you state completely absent!) when compared to the intended gameplay, I honestly cannot take your opinion seriously. Each time you've played Thief have you absorbed all of the plot and waited patiently wondering what's coming up next or did you stop doing that after one or two playthroughs like a normal person.
And finally let me say that there is no greater tension to be had on this game than recording yourself running through hostile enemies performing difficult feats for a public audience.
kthxbye

Playing the game any other way, I can't think of anything more pointless. This is the best part of the Thief experience. Loads of tension, loads of atmosphere, loads of plot, loads of gameplay, just run as quickly as you can through a predefined path that connects the loot together: genius!

Why so negative? It's not like the guy did a speedrun his first time through. After players have gone through the game multiple times and soaked in everything, they start to look for new things to do with the game. Doing a speedrun is just that - something new and challenging.

What you did was play the game repeatedly and obsessively for so long, that the only drop of pleasure left to squeeze from it's dessicated husk was this. The term 'flogging a dead computer game' comes to mind. (and let's face it, TDS was already limping to start with)

Gameplay? What gameplay? Everyone knows that simply pelting though a level at full speed is easy, because the AI aren't set up to react that quickly in a slowpaced game, you're on them and past them before they've time to say 'must have been rats'
Now, if you had
ghosted at this speed and got all the loot, that would have been something, it would have required skill, but this is nothing.

You can't justify something solely on the basis that some people might enjoy it and it goes against nature, otherwise buggering young boys woudn't be so frowned upon.

Games like this with a plot are not designed to be played to death, if you want to continue playing it you need new missions, which fortunately you can have with the Thief series. I have never understood people who can continue to derive pleasure from the game by trying to play it with as many exotic self-imposed rules as they can think up.
Where does it end?
'I'm going to play it through without using the mouse'
'I'm goign to play it through with the monitor upside down.
'I'm going to play it through using my cock to press the keys'

I hate to see poeple completely wasting their time like this. I dread to think how much time he wasted working out and planning this speedrun. If he has so much spare time, why doesn't he do something constructive for the Thief community, like learn a CG skill and help out the Dark Mod or something, instead of this nonsense.
