plebeian, what's wrong with you? Why do you care if someone plays in a way that you don't like? He had fun doing the speed runs, we have fun watching them, end of story. END OF STORY. Your completely needless bickering is unwarranted and unwelcome.
If you MUST comment about it, you could at least be more nice/thoughtful/intellectual and less insulting/rude/inconsiderate/assumptive/buttwipe about it.

I hate to see poeple completely wasting their time like this.
You mean like complaining about something they don't have to take part in? Irony at its greatest!
Anyways thanks for the videos! Downloading now. :thumb:

Cool, you must have put a lot of effort into this.:thumb:
Part of what this involves is actually very thief like. I would have expected Garrett to know a lot of the city parts inside out which you obviously do, well done.:D
CannibalK9 on 24/5/2006 at 19:37
Hehe, I screwed up the first city segment a bit since I was still fairly new to the game, but i'd sorted myself out by the end. It's all so dark donchaknow ^^

Thanks for the sharing this, CannibalK9! It will be a long time before I ever get a chance to play Deadly Shadows myself, so it was nice to finally see (and hear) a little of everything.
Unlike Plebian, I like the Thief series for it's wide variety of play-styles. Although I tend to play stealthy, I know that I can mix it up, I know what I can get away with. I love being able to experiment and push the limits. I've enjoyed reading the posts, essays, and walkthroughs detailing the wild results of experimentation in the games.
Challenging one's self is part of the fun.
Also... there are some people, like myself, that have had little time to play the games "properly," but have had an opportunity to jump into that universe. It's worth getting into, even if you can't savor each moment to come at the time. I've enjoyed Thief on so many levels, regardless of the fact that I played the Dark Project and Metal Age using walkthroughs to speed things up, knowing I might never play them again.
It's a testament to the development team that I'm a fan, having played both games through only twice each. The rest of my Thief experience has been playing individual missions that intrigued me, dabbling in DromEd, and compiling the texts, waves, and images for fan projects.
Now I've seen the final cutscene, and can reflect on all the comments I've read. My respect for Eric Brosius has grown even more. And I have a better appreciation for Terri Brosius' and Laura Baldwin's writing. I now have a more balanced perspective on Deadly Shadows. Thank you.

I can't think of anything more pointless. It's the complete antithesis of the Thief experience. No tension, no atmosphere, no plot, no gameplay, just run as quickly as you can through a predefined path that connects the loot together.
Well, *someone* is on their period!

And if that is true (which is debatable), who cares?
More and more peeps on this forum are not only self-appointed arses about what is and is not worth posting about, or what ways are "okay" to play, they also are willing to expend lots of in-your-face verbage at those they feel do not "measure up".
It's a fucking game. People play it to have fun. They play it different ways.
Speed runs are a kind of tradition among a certain crowd.
If you don't care for it fine, but don't be such an arse about it.

Ah, awesome work. Finally somebody with the right spirit. Unfortunately I hate TDS too much to make my own attempt (just played it once).
I'll add the results to (

And who do you think you are to tell others how they should be playing a video game? There's no official rules or any certain direction that you have to take when playing a game. The reason we all buy these games are for the entertainment value, and if CannibalK9 gets enjoyment from doing a speed run, memorizing all locations and the nooks and crannies of the maps, and the tension of running through an entire game as fast as possible then more power to him for creating an experience that not many people do experience. I myself am a ghoster, because I find more entertainment in never being seen. However, somedays I just feel like bashing in every skull I come across with a blackjack. I'm allowed to do this because I payed for the right to get enjoyment in any fashion from this game!
If you don't like somebody elses play style then you have several options. Ignore them, suggest they try your method, or berate new members of the community for thinking differently from you. The latter method will find yourself quickly removed from this community if it continues.

Just finished watching and I must say that you have convinced me to give the game another chance, well done! :thumb:
On a side note though, I should have got the high quality video, the normal one is too blurry and dark :erg:
