I say, it's been more than 6 months that the official DS website is down. Is Eidos even going to put it back up on the net?
Spare me if this has been discussed.
P.S.- Thanks.

Hadn't known about this, but I have a sneaking suspicion Eidos doesn't care. Ugh, thinking about Eidos and Thief has bothered me ever since I learned of the announcement they made about a Thief 4 and Deus Ex 3, making Thief more "modern".
So glad that never went through.
At least, I hope they're not working on it.

I'm really quite glad that Ion's proposed Thief 4 never happened either.
It's really too bad things went down the way it did for Thief 3. I really feel that the unreal engine was the wrong choice for the game....considering so much of it was rewritten anyway. I thought they announced they would be using the quake 3 engine in the very beginning....too bad they didn't, it would be far more mod friendly.

A lot of people who worked on DS also worked on Deus Ex, so I'm guessing the Unreal Engine was chosen because they were already used to working with the tools.

Wait, there's a Thief 4? Why, when, how!

If they hadn't cripple the engine, it would have been the perfect choice, much more user/mod friendly than a possible quake/doom version. Ion storm were like bunch of spoiled kids given an expensive toy and breaking it shortly.

No, there's no Thief 4. But Ion Storm was beginning work on a Thief 4 before everything when ka-phooey. It was going to be set in a more futuristic version of "The City", but still dark and with fantasy/horror elements and still with all the factions and all that. The first mission was going to be a raid on "Senator Bafford's Manor" as an homage to Dark Project.
All this as stated by "MysteryDev" on this very forum. He also posted a piece of concept art for Garrett in Thief 4, showing him looking very modern and urban with a hoodie.
To be honest I found the whole thing extremely exciting and I was tearing up a bit at the thought that we'll never see this game.

Yeah, Unreal Engine is mod fiendly, but if they had Quake Engine, it wouldn't be so either.
I am saying it all the time, may the orthodox XBOX-ers stone me, I don't care... If it was created as purely PC game from the beginning, half of the shit could not happen... But since it was made with a vision of a console game, it was never really meant to be able to support modifications.
Gosh, again I feel like a grumpy old man... Sometimes I think that since 2004, ThiefGen is all about mourning over T3 and I don't know why I am adding to it, repeating the same arguments over and over again.
Thief 3 rocks, dudes, Thief 3 rocks. We just can't appreciate it properly, yes? :p
