When I press W to move forward sometimes Garrett takes a lurch to the right before continuing to move forwards. Is this normal?
Didn't bother me greatly at first but trying to walk across some beams in the Pagan mission can be frustrating when pressing W sees you sidestep off the beam.
Any known fix, assuming I am not the only one to have experienced this?
GoG version, with SU 1.1.5. being played, on Win8.1

It's because Garrett's head is facing forward, but his body is still facing right (or whatever direction). If Garrett's body is pointed to the side and you try to move straight, Garrett kind of tries to keep walking off to the side as he's turning around, which usually puts you off the edge of a narrow beam. If you look down at your feet while mouselooking around you can see that there's a range in which your viewpoint (head) turns without your body turning, and only when you turn way to the side does your actual body start turning. It's silly, but there you are. Just make sure your actual body is pointed forward when you want to move forward on a narrow beam.

fen...you might want to stop the LPs. I read that reply with your voice in my head....it was kinda kewl and kinda i dunno at the same time...by the way it's 5am here....nice fire going and I'm on my 3rd beer....so Garrett is kinda drunk.
anyhooo...pay no real attention to the man typing rubbish at O'dark-thirty in the morning.

OK thanks. I'll pay attention to which way I am pointing the next time I have to walk across a beam. A bit odd though. Can't remember having to worry about such things in any other game.

It's how the body physics works in this game, unfortunately. I was testing it in the editor the other day, trying to establish a reasonable width of a beam to allow for that circular movement without falling down. It's 64 UUs. That's a bloody doorway.

This was probably my #1 beef with TDS. Isn't there a fix somewhere in the Sneaky Upgrade or Minimalist Project that allows you to turn off body awareness though?

Yeah the Minimalist Project fixes it. You can improve it further by playing around (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83801&p=1041418&viewfull=1#post1041418) with the .ini files. I couldn't play it at all before I fixed that, it's impossible, it feels like I'm knee-deep in mud trying to walk

A Sneaky Upgrade tweak for this is obviously high on the wish list... Do you remember any ini file settings that have a real influence? The BodyAwarenessMode setting is not read by the game, as far as I can tell. I also can't see much change with the MP enabled but maybe the tweaked animations make things a bit easier?
If it's fixable through gamesys changes then it still may be possible to turn it into a general tweak that will work everywhere.

There's a modified Animations ini file in that thread, but the link for it is dead. It's probably that one that should be edited (T3PlayerAnims.ini)
