I have always been fascinated by the easily recognizable traits of the classic "Gothic" scene...the dark cities, lonely streets, the bell ringing in the clock tower, a genteel society that vanished long ago...
Thinking back to my childhood, my first exposure to this literary/cinematic genre was Batman, believe it or not. I remember watching the old 1960's Batman TV show, and I distinctly recall being intrigued by the end credit sequence. I believe that this outro is what started me on the road of being a fan of the gothic. What I'm referring to starts at 3:18 of this video:

This Gothic quality can be observed in the modern Batman movies, too.
As I entered adulthood I became a fan of books like Frankenstein and Dracula, their classic movie adaptations, Edgar Allan Poe, and of movies like From Hell and Sleepy Hollow.

I watched often when I was child this ficion serie, and I liked it alot :D
I didn't watched other batman flims, because I thought them "americanades" (stupid movies with stupid tramas, when obviously the bad dies and the good wins, with inadmissable [and impossible] action scenes à la Bruce Willis & c.), except for the last one "The Dark Knight" who has a supreme interpretation of Joker of that actor that, unfortunately, died VERY young (he was younger than me of one year!). I confess that I was moved watching his family retiring the Oscar for him. R.I.P.
