Hi everyone,
Being a great fan of the thief series, (Completed T:TDP, T2 and T3, except T:G) I wanted to ask you guys 3 questions.
I always thought that T:TDP and T:G are the same, but now I read here on the forums that T:G has 3 new missions included in the main plot.
1. Are there any other improvements in T:G or differences in terms of graphics, audio, style, level design, any little changes at all?
2. If you guys have already played T:TDP and T:G, which one do you prefer better if you had to choose between T:TDP or T:G?
3. Which one fits best as a whole story and a complete perfect piece of its own?
Thanks a lot for your time mates,
Pavle

Personally, i thought the extra levels in gold were boring. Apart from mabey the mage towers. Thieves guild seemed to go on for ever, it was a well built level but to long (this is my opinion). Song Of The Caverns was short and easy (again this being my opinion). Mage Towers i did enjoy though. Seemed really thiefy.
Other imporvements in t:g? Some levels have bug fixes and there is a extra area in 'the sword'. You cant jam a skull in the doors (or any doors for that matter) in rttc, meaning you have to go the long route.
I personally prefer Dark Project, i dont know why, but thief gold has the plot that LGS wanted (1 tallisman a level), not thats there is really a difference in plot between the two.

Also, the elementals in Lost City are replaced with wizards, which I feel took away from the atmosphere of the level.

I really enjoyed the extra levels in TG. The Mage Towers level is excellent and is quite long with lots to do. The other levels were also quite good. I thought it all fit together very nicely. I just finished playing it this past weekend and I'm glad I got TG this time.

My own preference is for TG.
Thieves' Guild: A street level view of how the underworld types work. A lot of sewer action, some pretty good house crawls, and some great shady characters to fleece.
The Mage Towers: An enclosed estate, complete with hedge-mazes, a central keep, and four elemental towers. Lots of nifty stuff to check out here, including a tie-in to LotP in T2.
Song of the Caverns: From street to sewers to opera house - great design, a lot of fun little easter eggs, and the chance to wallop Lord B.
And changes to the Lost City, of course, to remove the second Talisman. I prefer the mages to the craymen, if only because the mages make more sense to me!

No, it's only the craymen/beasts that are replaced with Mages. There's still fire elementals.
I like The Dark Project best myself, but I did play that one first. The tweaks to the original mission in Gold are often pretty good though (except the bonehoard's new colour scheme), and I don't mind the new missions (although Thieve's guild is pretty underdone and annoying) but I don't think the original story pacing needed much more than one mission either before or after Baffords.

The best part of Thief Gold was the addition of an extensive extra area to The Sword with even more screwed up Alice in Wonderland architecture. I could take or leave the rest -- the opera house is fine, but the mage towers was annoying, and didn't add anything to the story.

I think TG is the best bet. It completes the story as originally intended and has the new levels, bug fixes, and the whole 9 yards. Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents!

Er… Khm…
Yes, TG is great, but… Can Lost City from DP be converted as a Fan-mission for TG? Just to play it alone as a kind of flashback…
