After contacting Black Cat Games leader, Dalai. He has given us permission to remake and update the game. We have not been idle, we have contacted various Black Cat Games developers (both old and new) to gain permission to remake their work, use their content and bring a new version of Thievery to the gaming masses.

Good luck to them. It's a difficult road.

A very difficult road.

Christ. Am I right that CryEngine uses prefabs for all non-terrain architecture? It seems to me like something that would be less than conducive for creating Thief-style levels.

It always amazes me how many remakes this series has inspired. I can't think of another game, especially one that was more a sleeper when it came out, that so many people want to keep in the spotlight.
Good luck to the developers. We all know from experience how hard it is to make a Thief mod, and how long it takes.

Are there any downloads for this yet ?
Their forums imply that there is a functioning version out there (or is it a private alpha, or beta test ?)
Does it requires Crysis / Warhead to play ?

I don't quite understand why anyone would try to do this in a totally new engine. Why not branch off from The Dark Mod? At least then you've got all the models, assets, and half the coding already done for you. Starting with a new engine is adding at least two years to your production time, and significantly reducing any chance of actually finishing.

The usual reason I imagine, awesome graphics. lol Although, if I understand correctly, they're releasing the FULL source code and not just a limited SDK. That could have huge benefits...but for a Thief like game, the engine may still require some heavy modification....especially if this cry-engine is anything like the earlier ones and better suited to daytime, outdoor missions.
