Hi all,
Well this isn't exactly a special thread or anything, just really a small update on our total conversion for Unreal Tournament 3.
Firstly we have changed our website and as such the forums have moved as well, our new site (which is currently just forums for the moment) is now located at (
http://forums.mutatedminds.com) Mutated Minds I'm posting this now because despite the redirect process being currently operative, our old website of thieves-highway.com will soon close, so this is a friendly heads up as to the current state of affairs.
Secondly we have changed the name of our total conversion from Thieves' Highway to Thieves of The Shadows' Age (TOTSA). There are various reasons for this, one of them is of course the up and coming T3Ed community project, The Thieves' Highway, although we researched the name before choosing it somehow we failed to notice the T3Ed community project.
We decided however to wait on changing our name since we were still using the old thieves-highway.com website, now this is no longer the case we feel it's a good time to announce a new name.
Well that pretty much wraps up the post, because our new site is currently just a forum I've included some of the basic information in regards to our on-going plans below so that for those who havn't heard of us, you'll understand what our total conversion is and what we intend to do.
Chief.
=====
Thieves of The Shadows' Age is an online total conversion (tc) for the upcoming game Unreal Tournament 3.
The tc consists of two gametypes, the first of which is Thieves vs Guards (TvG). Those who have played the ThieveryUT mod by BlackCatGames will be well aware of the idea behind the game. Human Thieves vs Human & AI guards in a variety of different locations from country estates to small hovels. TvG will be the first public beta released version of the total conversion so that players can get accustomed to the gameplay.
Our second gametype is called Projects. Projects are story-driven co-operative campaigns in which you and your partners in crime must work as a team. Each project is it's own storyline driven set of missions, each one leading to it's own finale. You and your friends will be immersed in an AI living, breathing world where political and religious factions are distrustful, city guards are drunk and dangerous, nobles are toffs and underground movements plot away for their own ends. It will be up to you and your friends to work as a team to help complete the objectives, while avoiding some unneccessary ventilation. This gametype will be released in the second public beta version of our tc.
Thief 1/G/2 Fan Mission Convertor. A small program (finished and working actually ;) ) that allows original fan mission authors (and those who have sought permission to convert them of course) to convert their fan missions to our tc. There are two things the convertor does, converts the brush work and then converts texture calls to link to our own textures. So on conversion you get all your rooms converted and with textures too :cheeky: Already tested on an unreal engine 3 based game, with a very large roofy map, entire thing converted perfectly and no need for loading zones ;). Can also be used for referencing your maps to remake them using static meshes :D
That's a shortened version of the plans for the game, things are coming along fairly well (as can be expected for a tc for a game that isn't out yet). And we look forward to seeing you on our forums.
If you have already registered to our forums in the past your username and passwords have been transfered so there is no need to register again - Thankyou.

You do know that Nightblade is moving to UT3, right? So there will be two very similar TCs on the same engine... Not that it's a bad thing, healthy competition is always good.

Yes we are aware of NB moving to UT3 as well, but it's not going to be all that much of a competition since they're taking things in a totally different direction and as such the mods (bar the stealth aspects) won't be that similar.

Props on the great work 'n' all but... *wow* that is one terrible name. :laff:

You guys have been at this for quite some time now. Is there any content to show yet? Also have to agree, the name is not good at all. Thieves: The Shadow Age would be a bit better...if you insist on a subtitle. As it currently stands, it looks like you're saying that the Thieves are stealing age from a group named 'Shadows'.

Oh noes!
Someone's making The Shadow forget how old he is! They stole his Age!
Nooooooo!
:ebil:

Well, it's really more how you punctuate it. :) I'm pretty sure Shadows' implies a group. Sorry to be picky, but it just looks and sounds wrong.
