Ok people. Here's the place to post your thoughts on anything you feel was left unanwsered at the end of Thief: DS.
Personally, I'd like to know more about what being the "One True Keeper" really means. Is Garrett the only one who can still use the glyph magic? Or was the glyph magic removed from everyone? When Garrett activated the last sentient, He became the one true keeper and that key was branded onto his hand? What does that mean? And what exactly happened to Gamall? It didn't look like she died at the end like Karras and the Trickster did. Just some things to think about and get this thread started.
I took Garrett's first line in the last cutscene quite literally. That's all folks. :)

She didn't as far as we can see. In fact, I felt kind of sorry for her at the end. Completely stripped of her powers she was just a helpless old lady crying in the street. It made me wonder how much of the horrible monster we were just fighting had been her, and how much had been the glyphs themselves.
I still think Garret can utilize the glyph magic. His wishes have never been a matter for Fate's concern in the past, and his wish to never see another glyph is just as likely to be unfulfilled. I think he is now the living incarnation (in a non-religious sense) of the totality of the glyphs.
What ultimately happened to Gamall, she is a mass murderer in any case?
What about the poor glyph altered Enforcers?
What are the Pagans and Hammers going to think of these developments?
Will the law still be after Garret? Will Garret give up thieving, I should certainly hope so, he should be busy with other things?
What does Garret think of being "forced" into the roll of Keeper after running from it for so many years?
Will Garret find true love and live happily ever after - doubtful?

I didn't see any indication of that at all. If anyone was a living incarnation of the glyphs it was Gamall. The last thing the final glyph would do is put all of the power of the glyphs in one person's hands when it created for the express purpose preventing such a thing.
I assumed Gamall was killed by the mob that descended upon her while she was trying to use a rune (looked like the first few strokes of the portal rune - presumably she was trying to escape).

I still think he had a thing for Viktoria near the end of the Metal Age, myself. Poor guy... :nono:
I assumed the Keepers would quietly lock Gamall away somewhere ... if she didn't die of extreme old age immediately after that cutscene. After all, it was only the glyph-magic that had sustained her life all these centuries.
That's more their style, anyway ... to sit back and wait, rather than take an active hand in events. Part of the reason Garrett so clashed with them.

I think that at the end of the cutscene, he accepts his role. 'It's no easy thing to see a Keeper... especially one who does not wish to be seen.' That's a line that the Keeper who recruited him used in TDP. He smiles after he says that, almost as if he's smiling at the irony: for the first two games he was trying to be left alone by the Keepers. I think he thought he was trying to shut them up, to bring about their prophecies so he could retire in silence. But really throughout the game he was becoming more and more concerned with it, with protecting the City. And then at the end he realises this, and accepts his role fairly willingly.
I sincerely doubt Garrett will give up his thieving ways. He's been at it way too long to suddenly have a complete change of heart after one incident. The way I see it, Garrett epitomizes the balance that the old keepers kept on harping about. He's neither good nor evil. He's looting everything not nailed down and saving the city at the same time. The two are pretty much connected. In all three games, it's his greed that has led him to ultimately save the city. Yeah, he'll be busy saving the city when it needs it, but I believe he'll keep making a profit as well.

I believe Garrett would put it this way:
"Of course I'm going to keep stealing. A key-shaped scar doesn't pay the rent, after all."
