Remember, the entire plot of TDS basically kicked in because Garrett wanted the information on the prophecies. Artemus came to ask him a favor, but Garrett only performed it because he wanted access to the keeper library. The cutscene in Orland's office where he says he's waiting to see some real books should be a clue as to Garrett's attitude towards the prophecies (as if the ending of TMA didn't clue us in).

Exactly. He cares now, but he doesn't really recognise this until after he's done saving the City.

Actually, the old woman says 'back, back with you!' in a sort of 'back, back you fiend!' sort of way, but it's devoid of strength or force because SHE has been stripped of strength.
No...it wasn't in the that tone at all...it was a tone of a desperate woman trying to call the glyphs back to her. The only thing she cared about. I noticed the small mob forming around her was completely hooded, I'm believe these must be the remains of the keepers, and they're all pretty pissed. Sure they maintain balance, but their ways are over and balance doesn't matter anymore. I think they probably killed her right there for causing all the trouble and killing so many of their brothers.
I think the keeprs disbanned after the ending. The thing that clued me in is the person saying "But will the city be alright with out us?" This leads me to two conclusions. Either the Keepers left the town and went else where, or the Keepers disbanned. My guess is that since their purpose in the prophecy was over they disbanned for good. Not to mention that Orland said that the Keepers were unbalanced.

Then, when the girl tries to pickpocket him, he realises what it means. When he says 'It's no easy thing... to see a Keeper,' he hesitates before 'to see a Keeper', and says 'to see a Keeper' as if he now understands. When he's done speaking, he smiles, not like he's happy, but as if he just understood something very ironic.
That sounds about right, probably the ironic "I give up" kind of smile was the one on Garret at the end. What I believe is that Garret gave up the way of stealing. He watched the town and the sun come up, gave back the artifacts, and gave a frown at the symbol on his hand. He's probably now the only protector of the town, and the girl is the first one he's going to train.

What about Inspector Drept? Where was he during all the chaos? I'm sure he knew who was involved, if not what all was going on. Where will he go from here? Become the Fox Mulder of the City? :p
I demand an official novel explaining all these things!

I think Garrett is the "One True Keeper" because before, The Keepers were all about being completely and totally neutral. Then corruption sat in and they started becoming obsessed with themselves and their prophecies and glyphs.
Garrett has been consistently neutral (he favors no one over someone else) to everything, even the Keepers and their prophecies and glyphs.

What really happened on the Abysmal Gale?
What about that wench that wanted Garrett dead after he stole the bloodline opal?
What other horrible things happened in the Cradel?
These are important life altering questions...
well, not really. Just curious is all.
Verak on 14/6/2004 at 18:49
Yeah, we never found out what made everyone on the Abysmal Gale zombiefied. Was that explained somewhere? Did I miss that?
Brodieman on 14/6/2004 at 19:17
It would be nice to get a concrete answer on the Abyssal Gale and what happened to it after day 6 (i think - it disappears).
Did Bafford get cured of his Gout?
Does the Cradle become a normal place now? I'm assuming it doesn't because it still remembers it's residents.
Many keepers must of disbanded but i'm assuming many also chose to remain with Garrett.
Gamall was killed by the Keepers, it was all very ominous and even as she realised she had nothing the betrayer still called out for her glyphs rather than seek the Keepers forgiveness.

I'm willing to wager that the city officials quietly arranged to have her scuttled, rather than let the cursed thing continue to sit there at the docks attracting attention. Anyone care to take a swim after day six and confirm this? :sly:
