For me, its that time of year for the Renn Faire. It runs almost 2 months, every weekend. Love it. I go every year, and more than once.

It hasn't run its course for me, but I have a hundred hobbies that I bounce between, and about a dozen of them are directly connected to the games, or are influenced by them. Many new interests and connections with people have come about as a result of my enthusiasm, so I will continue to be busy with everything should I find the enthusiasm for the games themselves has gone cold. The trick for me is to not spend too much time focused on one thing, but to try new things or just take a break and do something else I find worthwhile.

I've always wanted to do the urban exploration thing, but to be honest the fear of a trespass charge has never ceased to deter me, especially now that I'm taking a law class:p
I find that the next best thing for me, however, is geocaching. Granted I havn't done it much since Florida isn't necessarily known for its challenging terrain:p however I plan to do it once I move away, as I have some fond memories of going out to finding caches with freinds in highschool back home in the wooded hills of Pennsylvania. I've seen that some of them are in abandoned/creepy areas so I am rather excited to find some of these. Just go to geocaching.com and try some keywords like abandoned, creepy, isolated, etc...
Other than that, if the games have gone cold you might just need some distance/time away, like with all good mistresses;) My time away is usually thieveryut.com in terms of gaming.
Also, one of my fondest memories as teenager was doing night-security for the local carnivals that would come to the surrounding towns where I grew up in pennsylvania with an organization I was involved in. Had so much fun walking around all night with fellow 'guards' and our flashlights walking around dark corners and between carnival booths. The whole thing really gave me that thief feeling.
last but not least in the junior military program we would do a weekend field training exercise once or twice a year where we would basically camp out in the middle of the woods somewhere relatively isolated and play night capture the flag with glowsticks. This was especially kick ass because we generally divided the territories up into either side of the main campfire area, so hiding in the shadows and being quiet was pretty much the only way to success. I generally sucked at it, go figure:laff:
edit - would love to hear some of those activities there jtr:P

I attend reenactment events and make historical clothing (mainly medieval), as some of you here know already. We have a four day event at Warwick castle this Easter. It's a fairly large event with several retinues turning up, Buckinghams, Woodvilles etc. I hope to recruit some members to my own ' free' company. So far I have a crossbowman and an archer and I'm kitting out one of my swordsmen ready for the Tewksbury event. :thumb:
Anyone who would like to be in a free company (mercenaries) please PM me about membership. All this is in the U.K. and I am based in Derby. :)
I also run 'The Order of the Hammer' on Face Book.

I'm becoming more and more of a Hammerite... When I'm sitting on the bus or underground or whatever, I always find myself thinking about constructing steam-driven machines and engines, and a'philosophising about the Hammer doctrines. I'm also trying to find a club where I could learn how to fight with a warhammer... :cheeky: Sad but true. That religion appeals to me extraordinarily.

Ever thought about Calvinism? They managed to import the benefit of handicraft into Christianity, looks like a good way to start. :p

I live in a city in England, and no surprises, it has an old-town. That's all I need. :D

Yes, England is all so inspiring with it's old buildings and great countryside. The fact that you have not been conquered since 1066 has helped your country keep it's heritage (unlike other countries i could name). I went to the cathedral in York last fall, when i got down to the catacombs level all i could think of was the bonehoard and the Haunted Cathedral :D

as i said in another thread, (
http://thearma.org/) is your best bet if you are serious. They study manuals from the great masters (Talhoffer is your best source for the warhammer i think).
