Quote:
BOOM! That was the sound of Serious Sam 3: BFE news dropping. Croteam's Serious Sam 3: BFE is a glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters where men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom. Serving as a prequel to the original indie sensation, Serious Sam: The First Encounter, Serious Sam 3: BFE takes place during the Earth's final struggle against Mental's invading legions of beasts and mercenaries. Set against the collapsing temples of an ancient civilization and the crumbling cities of 22nd century Egypt, Serious Sam 3: BFE is an exhilarating fusion of classic twitch shooters and modern gameplay features.
“Serious Sam 3 is about pure fun and unfiltered action,” said Davor Hunski, chief creative officer of developer Croteam. “We wanted to expand on everything gamers love about the series while adding some genuinely unique new features to really enhance the mayhem Serious Sam is known for.”
[...]
“Holy crap, I am going to make a boatload of cash of this game,” said Fork Parker, chief financial officer at Devolver Digital, the Serious Sam 3: BFE publisher. “I mean that's what this is all about, right? If this thing comes out in the summer my wife is totally getting the tit job she's been asking for.”
Serious Sam 3 will bring the boom to PC and game consoles this summer.
When asked for further comment, Fork replied, “Bam. Tit job.”

This game has me very excited, been a fan of the series since 2001. I hope it is going to redeem Croteam after Serious Sam 2, which took things into a direction I didn't like very much.
The Duke and Sam arriving the same year, that is pretty sweet isn't it? Mindless old-skool shooters ftw.
Keep an eye on these for updates and more screenshots as they pour in:

Like it wasn't enough with the high definition releases.

This is gonna be so much better than Duke Nukem Forever.

There is nobody on this forum who has:
A: Put more hours into Serious Sam games
B: A more deeply seated love for the characters, locales, humor, art style, and gameplay
C: Been more eagerly anticipating the announcement and/or release of a SS 3
D: Thinks that devs/publishers are idiots for not funding/creating games that have a similar gameplay mechanic.
E: BECOME MORE PUMPED BY THE FACT THAT WE FINALLY HAVE A SCREENIE.

Serious Sam 2 was not serious. Let's see what they do with Serious Sam 3.
Bjossi on 1/3/2011 at 02:49
The originals were not serious either but they had a better balance of humour and sensibility in my opinion, it looks very much like Sam 3 is returning the series to that original formula.

Oh, so you've played both of them? Gosh!

Herp derp to you too.
Anyways, I'm quite excited about the up-to-16 players COOP. That is weird and bound to be awesome, if the amount of foes scales with players (like in the first).
catbarf on 1/3/2011 at 17:16
Wait, the number of enemies scales to the number of players? So when we doubled the enemy health for three people, we were just making it unnecessarily difficult?

Anyone have experience with the new DLC off of Steam for the current games? The Fusion? Is it worth a fuck?
