When did the teaser trailer and a bunch of concept art first come out for DX:HR?
van HellSing on 22/1/2012 at 09:46
The teaser trailer with the flashing images came out November 26, 2007. And in retrospect, it actually showed a lot about the game, from the explored themes to the art direction.

It was not that the mods deleted everything in sight....
... because this isn't true anyway.

they just seemed to ARGUE every POINT that was made negatively about the game! It just got old, quick, so I left.
I was simply not used to mods being so actively involved over there to the point they sounded more like a fanboy than a mod. Members I could understand, but not a mod.
I guess you're talking about a different game and forum? I'm not aware of any mod over on the T4 forum who sounds like a fanboy and argues against every point made.

It never ceases to amaze and disappoint that so many, even those who know better, keep dismissing the major differences in DX3's and T4's marketing in a backfiring attempt to negate disappointment, when not just going after expressions of such. The only argument that addresses it, and weakly at that, is the one regarding how DX3 is EM's first title and more important for a fledgling company. The likeliest possibility is Square-Enix's involvement. It really does seem--seem--that SE wasn't as hands-off as D'Astous assured gamers they would be, at least during the acquisition. Early 2010 is where the major shift and deadly silence rippled slowly outward through the community, and no attempt to warm things up has been made, and by that I do not include media releases or spoilers or any damned IP reveals of any kind.
To keep it simplest, all one has to do is look at René's posting history to see where people are sharing or receiving news worth gabbing about. For instance (note the dates of the quickly selected posts linked below). I have no problem remembering this stuff in coarse generalizations, and I've only ever played part of a DX1 demo back in 2001, but too many people who were here as the DX:HR development unfolded aren't piping up or remembering even ballpark correct, and the ones who debate the points disappointed taffers are making aren't even bothering to confirm their own memories for naturally inevitable and guaranteed confabulation before they make totally, or mostly, incorrect statements that do not have the intended affect of quieting the nagging issues:

EM, in 2008 alone, gave out more goodies to gaggle over than we've seen in total for T4. This shouldn't even be argued. Any poster who isn't an employee cannot possibly argue or assure away what the facts alone show, before the superimposition of emotive opinion, transparent to opaque.

Right jtr; SE obviously had more 'hands-on' than was initially indicated it would.

Being pretty foggy about the SE/EM relationship and degree of interaction between the two, I had to lookup both SE & EM to try & understand what the merger might mean to the rest of us. Apologies if all this is already known by everyone else, but I didn't pay that much attention when it happened, thinking that Eidos would just continue on as it had been, regardless of the merger.
At first I wasn't too bothered by the whole SE/EM merger since I read:
'Eidos officially became part of Square Enix on 22 April 2009. Following a reorganization of the company, Eidos was merged with Square Enix's European operations into Square Enix Europe. The Eidos brand currently lives through the development studio Eidos Montréal, and is also used as a label for games developed by former Eidos-owned developers like Crystal Dynamics and IO Interactive.' Seems like a bland and innocuous statement, right?
However, the further on I read, the more uneasy I became:
'In February 2009, Square Enix reached an agreement to purchase Eidos for £84.3 million, pending shareholder approval, with an initial aim of fully buying Eidos on 6 May 2009. The date was brought forward and Square Enix officially took over Eidos on 22 April 2009.
Although Square Enix said earlier that it would let Eidos Interactive remain as it is currently and not meddle in its internal affairs, it has stopped publishing games under the Eidos brand, with new games coming out under the Square Enix brand instead. Currently the Eidos Interactive logo only appears for games developed by former Eidos-owned game studios.' Okay, T4 is Eidos-owned, but who's driving the car - SE or EM? Regardless; there has been more hype on recently or soon-to-be released games produced/developed by either company than there has been on T4 from the very start. All we got was one lousy, grainy, little pic of some dev (at least we think he was) working on a game that
might have been T4. Also; some seriously scary concept (?) art that gave me nightmares and a tummy ache.
My head exploded a long time ago (about the time the 'new guy' replaced Rene and then even the sparse T4 info/hints, etc. stopped trickling down), and I'm left confused and frustrated.
And really, really pissed off.

I remember reading that but I'd forgotten it. Thanks for the info.

Look your NOT a moderator HERE. Your a moderator there, so go moderate over there.
I do not go there anymore as I had my own negative experience's at the Eidos forum, I have also heard from other people about THEIR negative experience's with Eidos and their forum.
You keep going on and on about the ToU and your position as a moderator and Eidos rules.
Then you ask for examples, proof ? How can they provide proof that was deleted by you or one of your other moderators ?
If you want to participate as a regular user here then please do so, otherwise please refrain from posting any more of your drivel.
Now as for thief 4 I think it is going to be an even bigger cluster f*** then thief 3 was. Hopefully that will not be the case though. I know some people actually LIKED thief3.
I still have Thief gold, Thief 2 and the Darkmod installed. I do NOT however have thief 3 installed although I did waste some money purchasing it and still have the discs's somewhere I think....
Opinions are like assholes we all have one and they usually stink :)
