This thread doesn't need a moderator. It needs a nanny.

:D Well it certainly needs something!

This thread needs more cowbell.

You just redeemed your contributions to the previous page with that joke. :thumb:
Just because y'all cain't see I, don't mean there is no I. I don't want this thread to devolve any more. I think a frustrated discussion about the lack of updates and info is GOOD, and there needs to be more comprehension of what and why DX3 and T4 are utterly different beasts that need completely different strategies.
I don't like the lack of news either. And I don't even want to PLAY this stupid game, not after the last one.
But let's not get all pissy, okay? Because I will lock and burn and ban at random. I'm a big fan of Occam's Shotgun, and sometimes pedestrians get winged. Apologies in advance.

Weren't meaning you GBM - we know you are EVERYWHERE!
Interesting listen. I'd liked to have heard a bit more and the video kept cutting off so I probably missed half of it anyway.

The differences between DX3 & T4 notwithstanding; they're both still EM games, so why the ominous silence on T4 when EM was providing DX3 previews, news, & trailers long before the game was released? Yes, T4 is an 'utterly different beast' from DX3 and obviously does require different strategies (I'm referring to the use of different engines, the development involved in the creation of, etc.), but
how would that affect the dismal lack of updates? Not even a '
Hi Kids! Yes, we're still moving forward with T4 though we've hit a few rough patches .... :o .... ourbad ...' .
Does Square Enix have anthing whatsoever to do with the seriously sad lack of T4 info? I'm not a doomsayer (normally), but EM's silence on T4 doesn't bode well imo. As I've said before, just the fact that EM's still hiring devs for T4 (according to their website) isn't reassuring in the least. And what ever happened to the guy who allegedly replaced Rene as our EM-T4 liaison; Harry, Henry, Howard, what'shisnameagain? Isn't he supposed to be liaising with us? Did he accidentally get banned for being apathetic, or did I miss a memo or something?
I've wondered at times if maybe EM is so very confident that T4 is going to be The Game To End All Games that they're deliberately maintaining silence as part of their plan to stage a Grand Global Release of The Megaton Kind, knowing (and sadistically chuckling to themselves all the while) that all the Thief fans will be totally blown away by the Greatness of This Game and will forgive them for the past four years of the dirge of info on the blasted game.
*takes a deep breath*If the above proves not to be the case, and T4 turns out to be nothing more than an updated version of T3, then I happen to have my own Occam's Oozie (much more precise than the Shotgun - less collateral damage you know), and EM will be made to understand the error of their ways, letmetellyou. (Actually I'll probably just end up sending them a bunch of e-mails using harsh language.)
Otherwise, this:
Priceless.

I'm guessing that EM are actually quite good, but Eidos proper has some micro managing control freaks in its echelons that get their knickers in a twist if anything as lowly as a production studio wants to communicate directly with a customer.
Thief and Deus Ex have similar histories. Both started out being revered by fans and then had sequels that were a complete embarrassment and singularly failed to capture whatever it was that captured the fans' imagination and interest in the first place.
Give them their due - Eidos Montreal didn't follow gormlessly along the path of Deus Ex 2 like someone lacking the wit to tell left from right. They delivered the goods.
I've got no idea what they're actually going to deliver this time. But it'd be nice to think Deus Ex 3 wasn't a fluke.

My guess is the devs are watching The Dark Mod continually add features and are struggling to come up with something better.

They don't have to release screenshots or videos. They could occasionally write a description of what's being done, such as 'updated the AI search functions' or 'more guard voices have been recorded today'.
