So I figured it's about time I get caught up with the classic of Thief The Dark Project and, jesus christ, this game is crazy!
First the guards are the most hypersensitive people I have met. I can't peak around the corner, they'll see me. I can't crouch-slowmo walk on a marble floor 10 feet away, they'll hear me. Dear lord, compared to what all the other games define as stealth, this is madness.
But then there's the seconed mission and hello zombies! Of course you can't kill them with the sword so they just keep COMING AFTER YOU. Fuck you zombies, fuck you to hell!
I thought the mines were bad but, boy, was I in for a surprise. Hello catacombs - now the zombies are FUCKING EVERYWHERE. Well, the hell with that, I ain't killing them, just running past. And hey, I discovered that if you keep jumping you'll start building insane speeds. So I'd just bunny hop around the zombies; that's right, fuck you zombies, I'm fucking sonic the hedgehog.
And what the hell are those animals there? Acid spewing mini zombie dinosaurs wtf? Seriously? But at least they're easy to kill.
I am playing on hard by the way. I don't even want to know what "expert" must be like :wot:

Stop.
Start again.
On Expert.
Seriously.
There are submissions and areas of maps you will not have access to if you do not play on Expert. Plus it's the only real way to play. Learn to be stealthy. You'll love it.

If you play Thief like a shooter, you'll die a lot. The game is not meant to played that way.

Most games define stealth as "nobody can see anything more than 12 feet away".
Think more realistically, you big baby.

Yeah, I never said otherwise. I played Thief 1 and 2 on Expert from the start. What's the confusion here?

Yes, I changed your thread title. I should have deleted your thread and given you a three day ban, but I am in a good mood.

Yakoob,
Subjective is right. Switch to Expert and start from the beginning. This game becomes easy, once you learn how to play it. Guards are quite limited, actually, if you know their weaknesses.
You are supposed to stay in shadows. If the shadow you're standing in is deep enough, you're invisible. If there are no shadows, make yourself a new one with a water arrow. Make sure your gamma correction is set high enough, there should be a clear difference between lit and unlit areas.
You always make lots of noise on marble, so simply stay off marble floors. And metal. Metal is bad. Stone is good, wood is better, carpet is perfect. There are lots of alternative routes. Learn to spot them. Look at ceilings. Look for open windows. Also look for wooden walls, ceilings, beams, and so on - they are all potentially accessible with a rope arrow.
Use your equipment. The least deadly arrows are the most useful. Water arrows are your best friends, and moss arrows create small carpets. Rope arrows are essential. You can also use all kinds of noises to distract enemies or lure them into traps.
Don't kill humans. Knock them unconcious instead. It's less messy and less noisy. Besides, you cannot kill humans on Expert. Don't leave their bodies lying around. Hide them.
There is more than one way to get rid of a zombie permanently without cheating. In fact, you can terminate pretty much everything that moves, but more often than not it's safer not to try.
Bunny hopping is unnecessary.
Burrics (the "dinosaurs") are cute. Some people keep them as pets. Please, don't kill them. Usually you can sneak past them, but they are also vulnerable to the blackjack. Don't throw matches or candles into their jaws. Don't let them eat your fire arrows. Don't keep them in your basement.
And if you already think this game is crazy, try and stack a bunch of crates on top of each other. You can make a gravity-defying staircase, and reach the very edges of the world (all of them).

He was responding to Yakoob, not you. Dork.

Yeah, I realise that. I didn't pay attention to the names and thought it was Yakoob again and not Yandros! Sorry Yandros :erm:
