I am considering re-installing Vista just for this game. I love reading everybody's stories, but I would much rather have a few of my own . I think Steam is having a sale on this game, I dunno, either way I am getting it when I find it for a good deal.

How do I gain height with the parachute - with grappling hook only?

Yeah. But since you can gain height even by grappling the ground almost directly below you and pulling back, it's not so bad.

I need to check what mine is. I also need to find a good place for some base jumping.
Found a Blackbird earlier and in my excitement didn't check it's acceleration before I started taking it out of the hanger. Ended up getting it stuck with it's nose under a pipeline. With no way to back it up myself, I noticed a jet getting ready to take off down the runway. As it passed I hooked it to the Blackbird. It managed to pull it out into a proper position for my own takeoff just before it lost control, swinging about wildly in every direction before flopping upside down and crashing into an enemy SAM site.
I then proceeded to hook a soldier onto my new jet and flew off before having a midair collision with a helicopter and parachuting to safety.

My highest parachute climb is now 1061 metres, which is actually more than my highest base jump at 1052 metres.

the best point for base jumping (apart from the balloon) is the 'desert peak' you can get close to 1500m.

There's a large airfield in the southeast of the desert island that has a cargo plane and a few tanks that you can connect (haven't tried yet, will next time I play). As for actually hooking up the firetruck, I'm sure you can drive one to a civilian airport via the main roads and hook it up to a B747.
Wow nice find. I just wish you could open the back up and put vehicles inside.

Will you be able to take off with it attached though? Usually 747s are only barely off the ground by the end of the runway. Well, only one way to find out.

I didn't try, but I would think so. The thing is huge.
