Seriously though, just how FUCKING compelling was S02 E09!?
I may have said "FUCK" more than Bunk and McNulty.

There's been criticism of iffy overall pacing in season 2, which I absolutely understand... but due to the characters and acting I've still found this immensely compelling. I'm curious for Sunday - I'm hoping for an episode as exciting as "Blackwater", though in very different ways.

Do we need to do spoilers here?
Just in case: I've been pretty impressed with the translation to screenplay since they've gotten rid of the atrociously handled Renly. Hopefully Loras mans up a bit from here. The amalgamation of minor characters and tweaks to the story have been well handled.

Ok so, I knew what was going to happen (mostly) but I was still rather excited to watch. I was hoping the TV series would be a bit more climatic at the end of a season, the "end" felt a bit empty. Kinda felt like that season finale never really came, next ep. But thats it, now we wait till next season... oh well.

I had read the first book before watching Season one and I think it actually made me enjoy it more. I haven't read book 2 and I spent a lot of Season 2 acting like my Grampa and asking my husband "who's that guy?" "where did she come from?" etc.
And I think this is a good thing because if they had to hold the viewers hand through every character introduction and back story it would be about as thrilling as reading the Silmarillion.
Moral of the story is that I really need to read book 2 and 3 before the next season starts.

Liked the last episode a lot. A lot of crazy stuff happened/was introduced. Kind of funny how Season 1's finale was all about the dragons and Season 2's also had a big dragon bit. The magic is getting all up in this shit now, but one thing that bugged me was Stanis and his woman - we don't see what he sees and why the hell won't she show him his "son"? Or does he already know? Weird.

I liked the ambiguity of not seeing what he saw. The program keeps its edge by never showing you the magic. Some kind of CGI cutscene inside a flame would be a bit too cheesy IMO.
Also, I thought his "son" was the shadow thing that killed Renly.

Still a bit annoyed the bit with Danny at the house of the Immortals where she never got her prophecy of the 3 betrayals she would suffer.
Also, Stannis chocking Melissandre, dafuq?
Still, enjoyed it a lot, but my money's on Blackwater for best episode for the season :D

Yes, that's what I meant about his son.
And what the hell are you talking about - "never showing you the magic"? This may have been largely true for Season 1 but as soon as the dragons arrived we've seen all sorts of magic gubbins. Did you fall asleep during the final episode of Season 2? Dragons, zombie armies, shapeshifters... That's why I thought it odd they didn't show what he saw, or that there was some magic going on.
