Ok, I'll re-phrase. Never letting the magic be cheesy. Prophetic movies in flames would be too much on the cheesy side, but letting the scene be played out in the form of Stannis's face expression and dialogue conveys enough of the mood while preserving the mystery.
Agreed on Blackwater being the best episode so far. The moment of the the wildfire going up and Kligane's expression showing a crack in his otherwise impenetrable exposure was the single best moment for me. Also, realising that Kligane lost his shit because of his childhood brush with fire was a nice revelatory moment.

Outstanding season finale. But I'm going to have to go back & reread the books before next season's premiere as I caught myself saying stuff like, 'Dang! I totally forgot that was going to happen ... ', and 'Now who the hell is he/she again?'.
I thought Stannis' 'son' was kind of a one-time deal; forgive me if I've forgotten another piece of the story from the books, but I thought he was created just to kill Renly and then disappear.
I agree on Blackwater and also with Duckeh; I was disappointed about the lack of prophecy for Danny.

I just read that I can't actually see this legally until MARCH BLOODY 2013 when the DVD comes out! HBO is still Sky exclusive in the UK, and I have Virgin. Or I can just stream it and feel bad about myself right now. They really don't do themselves any favours, do they?
